Spring (on the way) Greetings!

Greetings from the arctic tundra of Dorchester! It's been quite the snow filled winter! Definitely happy to see the days get longer (Daylight savings starts this Sunday)! Spring is just around the corner, and we are prepped and ready for the growing season.

Renovations at the Red House have been moving along at a steady pace. The farmers porch and front entryway has been completed. Recycled newspaper (cellulose) insulation has been blown in, and we are preparing to put the walls up.

In the last two months we've geared up on our grant writing, the initial mailing has been sent and follow up is next on the list. The Reggae Party in the Red House was a great success! Our first Get Painty Kids Day Workshop with Stacey Lucas went very well, we look forward to having Stacey back in March and April.

We welcomed over 25 guests to The Hostel from as far away as South Africa and we were happy to see friends from Quebec returning to experience our sustainability in action.

We've hosted the Permaculture Institute of New England's (PINE) annual retreat, where they brainstormed and happily walked away with great ideas to implement over the next year.

This innovative and forward thinking group are filled with vigor and a great energy to develop, maintain and continue moving forward in the vision of permaculture for the northeast!

These next two months are filled with a great variety of events for all ages. Hope to see you at the Farm Feast Breakfast; Pizza and a Movie; and our Potluck and Open Mic! For the kids, we've got another great Get Painty Workshop coming up and Fern Gully is showing on Pizza Night! Jen Alba's Embroidery Class showcasing a great traditional cottage craft starts in April.

Look forward to seeing you at the farm!
Thanks for your part in this collaborative adventure,
Josh, Bree, Sonia & Mittens

PS: Save the date! We're having a
book release party April 17th!

We've said goodbye to two very helpful residents. Intern Dane from Bennington College was extremely helpful in caring for the pigs and providing all around assistance. We wish him the best of luck in college and all his future endeavors!

Jais assisted in the Red House Renovations this winter. His unique talents and great conversations will be missed!

Warm Welcomes

We welcome James onboard as a resident this month. He has visited the farm on a few occasions and will be a fabulous fit this spring! His positive energy and great smile are joyful additions.

We are excited to welcome Sonia Gaudette as our new Organization Administrator. She brings almost two decades of experience to the organization. She has proven to be a great fit, with a great attitude. Stop by, she'd love to meet you!

Community-Scale Permaculture Farm

After seven years of hard work, we are feeling blessed with the amount of positive feedback we have been receiving.

Here's what is being said about it!

"Every community should be so blessed to have a permaculture learning center and demonstration farm in its midst. Josh Trought and company provide pure inspiration for learning essential earth skills. Pick up this book and you too can help people connect with the land and a sustainable way of living."-Michael Phillips, author of The Holistic Orchard

"What a broad-minded book and thorough record of achievement for a visionary farm enterprise that takes practical steps to counter the capitalist disaster-an inspiration for the next generation of growers."

-Peter Schumann, founder of Bread and Puppet Theater

We will have copies available onsite and at Artistic Roots in April.
