CATR's 1st Drive to Ride Campaign

As a part of our 25th Anniversary Celebration, we have asked CATR friends to get involved with raising funds for our Student Scholarship Program by sharing their own personal story with friends and family.  Thank you to all who have signed up and have already made more rides for CATR students possible!

We will be announcing the top fundraiser at our In the Company of Horses event next Sunday.  Each fundraiser still has ten more days to reach their goal!  Click here to check out their pages.

CATR's 25th Anniversary Celebration
In the Company of Horses

2016 is a BIG year for CATR!   We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary AND construction is underway on our covered arena!

Our annual fundraiser, In the Company of Horses, is just around the corner on Sunday, April 10th from 4 to 7.  This year, we are going all out to celebrate 25 years of helping students achieve mobility, confidence and independence through riding and interacting with horses at CATR!

In the Company of Horses, our 25th Anniversary Celebration, benefits CATR's Student Scholarship Program and features dinner by Tristan Events, drinks by EVO and Southern Eagle, live music by The Sweetgrass Revival and a few special treats for all!  Our Event Committee has worked tirelessly to get exciting silent and live auction items!

We can't wait to celebrate and hope to see you, your family and lots of friends next Sunday!  Click here to visit our event website to purchase tickets and check out our auction items.
Raise the Roof Update
Construction is underway!

As many of you know, Brickhouse Equestrian Center sure looks a lot different these days!
This is because construction has begun on our covered arena!

At the end of 2015, we started preparing for construction.  We built fences to make two new riding spaces, relocated our cross tie area and moved our mounting ramp and block to make them easily accessible for therapeutic riding students.  In addition, we put up temporary fences in the pastures to allow for the construction site.  After everything was in place, staff rode and worked with all lesson horses to get them used to their new surroundings.  Months of prep work have paid off, and we have been able to continue lessons as usual with a few minor adjustments here and there!  Thank you to all volunteers, students and families who have been flexible and understanding of the construction process.

At the end of February, ten eighteen wheeler trucks arrived with the steel for the entire building.   Shortly after that, crews from Trident Construction and Earthworks began the ground preparations.  Countless dump trucks have  delivered fill dirt and   gravel to raise the ground and construct a new drainage system.  Pipes   have been installed, and we   have a retention pond that we were pleased to see did its job after the heavy rain last weekend!

In the coming weeks, helical piles that anchor the building's foundation will go in and concrete will start being poured.

Feel free to visit anytime to see the progress!  For daily updates, keep checking our Facebook and Instagram pages and help us spread the word by sharing our photos and using the hashtag #CATRRaisestheRoof.

We continue to raise funds for this project, and naming opportunities are available.  Please visit CATR's website to find out how you can help Raise the Roof!
BEC Students Compete
Spring Horse Show Season

The horse show season for Brickhouse Equestrian Center is in full swing! BEC students have competed at two shows so far, and two more are coming up in April.
Four riders and horses did a great job representing BEC in The Ashley Hall Annual Horse Show on March 19th and 20th! Ella Willits and Greystone were Champions in the Crossrail Equitation Division.  Brooke Farfone showed a new mount, Peachy, and received Reserve Champion in the Walk, Trot, Canter Division.  Seidel Bennett and Mouse also competed in the Walk, Trot, Canter Division.  Seidel rode beautifully despite Mouse being a little excited to be competing again, and they were awarded a 2nd place ribbon in the Equitation Class.  Katie Cannon and Buttercup, showed huge improvements from their last show and moved up to competing in the Short Stirrup.  Katie and Mouse placed 2nd in Short Stirrup Equitation Over Fences.
The second competition was a Combined Training Show held at Middleton Equestrian Center on March 26th. Katie and Buttercup competed in the Tadpole Combined Test and Training Level Test One.  Even though the nasty weather and the 5K race happening in conjunction with the show presented challenges, the pair ended up taking home first place in both tests!
BEC students have two more shows coming up this spring.  We wish them all the best of luck!
