PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
MAKING A "SWEET" DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
Zach's Place chosen as Hometown Hero

The Girl Scouts of Monument troop #41625 have chosen Zach's Place center, located at 4795 Granby Circle in Colorado Springs, as their "Hometown Hero".  The Hometown Heroes (HTH) Program gives girls the opportunity to learn philanthropy and community services through the Cookie Program. Recipients  in the community may include non-profit organizations, shelters, firefighters, the military, blood banks, area hospitals or local food banks. Customers who did not want to buy cookies for themselves, passed on these tempting treats and gave to Zach's Place while supporting the Girl Scouts at the same time.  "The girls have put in a lot of effort this year selling cookies and are donating over 140 boxes to Zach's Place", say troop leaders, Christine Suarez and Carol Caniglia.   The girls toured the Zach's Place facility along with their parents and troop leaders, and met some of the Zach's Place kids playing in the gym area.

"The Zach's Place kiddos and their families are thrilled and honored to receive this sweet donation," says Andrea Sedgley, Zach's Place Program Director, "and we are grateful to have been chosen as Hometown Hero and recognized for the valuable services we provide families in our community."

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS

Kari Harp

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
The HARP Family

Kari Harp and her children, Elijah and River Harp, have volunteered for SKSF for a few months now.  They came on a Saturday to clean the inside of all of our vehicles top to bottom.  Kari vacuumed them out as Elijah and River wiped everything down and washed all the windows.  This was a huge help to our transportation team.
Kari and Elijah also volunteered for Parents Night Out at Zach's Place. They raced cars with the kids, helped with various craft projects, played legos, musical chairs, read books and entertained the kids the whole night.

Elijah Harp
Thanks so much for your willingness to help and your generosity of time and commitment to SKSF!
