BBDC SUMMER INTERNS
Haley Ehrke
Mirissa Scholting
From May 21 st through July 31 st, Box Butte Development Corporation (BBDC) will host two summer interns from the Rural Futures Institute (RFI). Haley Ehrke and Mirissa Scholting are both small town girls and Marketing Majors from the University of Lincoln. Haley and Mirissa will assist BBDC staff with their “Marketing Hometown America” campaign which is designed to attract new residents to Box Butte County.

“This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the BBDC Board of Directors and a grant from the Panhandle Partnership - Greater Good Fund,” stated BBDC Executive Director Chelsie Herian. “I first heard of Marketing Hometown America and the RFI Intern program while attending a ‘Connecting Entreprenierial Communities’ Conference in McCook last year. I was so intrigued I brought the idea back to my Board of Directors and asked if we could explore the opportunity. Luckily, they said yes.”

BBDC has set the stage to play host to these two young women who will soon be setting out on their own to continue their careers. BBDC has much to learn from Haley and Mirissa as well, such as what traits they look for in a community and what we are currently doing well in our marketing and what may need improvement as we seek to share our unique story.Box Butte County is a great place to live and work, and we need to learn more about sharing that with the outside world.

The end result of this project will be a new marketing video that BBDC, the Chambers of Commerce in both Alliance and Hemingford, both municipalities, and employers in our area can use for employee and community information sharing.Help BBDC in welcoming our guests, Haley and Mirissa. It is going to be a great year!
