This Wednesday (5/17): End-of-Year Band and Orchestra Assembly!
Come Hear What Our Band and Orchestra Students Have Learned This Year!
Did you know that Briarlake is one of the only elementary schools in the county where band and orchestra instruction is offered 4 times a week? We are so fortunate to have Mr. McNamara and Mr. Walden working with our children and we are so proud of what they have accomplished with our students!

At 9 am this Wednesday, our Band and Orchestra students will be giving a year-end performance to the entire student body. In addition, there will be some additional solo vocal performances from some of Mr. Lee's music students. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
LAST CHANCE: Extra Briarlake yearbooks for sale...first come, first serve!

Didn't order a 2016-2017 yearbook? We have a limited supply of extra printed books to sell, first come, first served! All preordered books and extras will be distributed after Field Day festivities on  Friday, May 19.

To get your copy before they're gone:
  • Send an email to briarlake.yearbook@gmail.com and include your child's name, grade and teacher

  • We will email you back to confirm your order (based on supply)

  • Once confirmed, please make a check out to Briarlake PTA for $25.44 and drop it off in the yearbook bin in the front office

Due Next Week: Turn in Your Box Tops by May 22nd
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION -
Thank you Briarlake Families!  So far we have earned $568.90 for our school this year from clipping Box Tops! We are more than half way to our $1000 goal for the year--but it will take everyone participating to reach it.  We have to get them submitted in May because many will expire before our fall submission.   Whether you give a handful or several hundred, please clip every single one of those Box Tops  for these final weeks of the school year ! Everyone participating is so important with Box Tops because it requires an accumulation of thousands of 10-cent clips to add up.  Thank you all so much!

Remember:  Box Tops can be submitted in baggies or pasted on collection sheets printed from www.BoxTops4Education.com. Either way, drop them off in the Box Top Collection Box in the Briarlake front office whenever you are ready.  Contact me if you have questions or want to help! Your 2016-17 Box Top Coordinator: Mark Cochran mfcochran@gmail.com.

Next Tuesday (5/23): Last Spirit Night of the 2016-17 Year at Monkey Joe's from 4-8pm

Would You Enjoy Being a Briarlake Tour Guide?
Help Welcome New Families to Our Wonderful Briarlake Community!
New families coming to our school or considering moving to this area often request tours of our wonderful school. One of the many ways our PTA supports Briarlake is by providing tours to prospective parents. If you enjoy meeting and welcoming new people, this could be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you. Tours take place during the school day, but can be arranged to accommodate your schedule. Training and tour notes provided.  If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, contact Sonya Tinsley-Hook at stinsleyhook@gmail.com.

Special note from Sonya: Giving tours to prospective Briarlake families is lots of fun and a very meaningful way to support our school and share the positive story about our community.  If my daughter was not a 5th grader, I would gladly do this particular job another year.  I promise this is not a paid endorsement!  :)
STEM Update: PTA is Paying for Big Thinkers to Come to Your Child's Classroom!
Big Thinkers Visit
PTA is paying for Big Thinkers to come in May to do fun, hands-on science workshops with each individual class.  Wow! See the attached schedule for when Big Thinkers will visit your child's class. Thanks to all of you who give generously to PTA each year for making this great opportunity for our children possible! #yourptadollarsatwork
