Youth Spring Track
Youth track Spring

Our Youth Spring Track session begins on April 10th! The TRS Youth Track and Cross Country program was created with the sole purpose of providing all kids grades K-8, regardless of their natural talent and abilities, with the opportunity to develop and pursue a life-long love of fitness.

Our Spring season runs from April 10th - May 17th and we will practice Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Gainesville Middle School. The program will provide the opportunity to learn the discipline of throws, jumps, sprints, hurdles, and distance running. Our focus remains on creating a fun environment where your child will develop proper form and discipline to improve speed, agility, endurance and performance.

To register for the Youth Track program, please complete a Registration Form  and drop it off at The Running Store. We will have forms available at the store to complete as well.

For questions, contact Jordan McDougal at Jordan.McDougal@therunningstoreteam.com.

Adult Spring Training Programs
Winter 2012 Train Program

Our Spring Professional Training Program begins on Monday, April 16th. The session runs from Monday, April 16th - Saturday, June 30th. Runners meet twice weekly for coached group workouts. They currently meet on Monday evenings at 6:30 PM at Marsteller Middle School in Bristow and Saturday morning at various local locations at 7:30 AM. Coached group workouts will include hill, interval, tempo and long run training.

In addition to the coached group workouts, runners receive a detailed training schedule based upon their ability level and goals. Progress is monitored at the group workouts as well as via an online training log.  Runners also receive educational materials on a variety of running related topics including nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, strength training and much more!

Many runners utilize this Spring training session as a good way to begin building a base before the 16 Week Fall Half and Full Marathon training program begins on July 9th.

The fee for the program is $225 for TRS VIP Members ($275 non-VIP members).

Sign up by April 10th and receive $20 TRS Cash with your registration!

Sports Psychology Clinic
Haymarket Physical Therapy

Please join us for an in-store Sports Psychology clinic with Dr. Peter De Michele, Sports Psychologist with
Haymarket Physical Therapy & Chiropractic on Tuesday, April 10th. The one-hour presentation will  discuss the way people handle information about discomfort in different situations. The talk will discuss research on "tuning-in" versus "tuning-out" out various signals like discomfort and what advantages each one can have. Further discussion will cover how the mind and body "converse" quite clearly with each other. That will lead to a more general discussion about performance expectations and the research linking those expectation with actual performance. Finally there will be a discussion on the impact a few physical and psychological interventions on mood and on performance. Space is limited.  RSVP to Mary Davison if you plan to attend.
Thanks so much for your continued support of The Running Store!
