About Us...

At Key Ministry we believe that every child is a unique creation of God! We also believe that children should belong to a church family. Sometimes disabilities can hinder this experience. This is especially true when a child has a hidden disability, that is, an emotional, behavioral, or developmental condition that has no outwardly apparent symptoms.

Key Ministry's mission is to help churches reach families affected by disabilities. We hope that the resources you discover here will be use-ful to you in ministry within your church and possibly within your family as well.

Greetings!

Spring has sprung, and what a busy spring it has been so far! We are really enjoying the flurry of activity that God has sent our way, and can't wait to update you! Read on to learn about our recent activities and as always, thank you for your interest in our ministry. God bless and happy spring!

JAM Sessions Left and Right!
Our recent JAM Session in Knoxville, Tennessee was a huge success; we met about 20 new friends from various churches in that area who are serving kids with disabilities in various capacities; what an honor to share time with them!

But we're not done JAMming yet! We have another JAM Session in the Cincinnati, Ohio area on Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It's being held at Center Pointe Christian Church and you can get more info here. If you'd like to register, just click here.

If you're not sure what a JAM Session is, JAM stands for Jump-starting an All inclusive Ministry and it is our one-day training intensive to help those who attend better serve families affected by disability.  It's a fun day designed so that participants leave feeling encouraged and equipped.

Best of all? It's FREE. You heard me right, free! But you have to register so that we'll have enough materials for everyone. We hope to see YOU there!

Key Ministry Featured Nationally

We continue to be humbled (and excited!) by the opportunities we have to help spread the word about the importance of inclusion ministry.

Our own Katie Wetherbee will be speaking at the Group KidMin Conference in Chicago in September. Her workshop, entitled Special Needs-A Church for Every Child: MINISTRY TOOLS, will include information about understanding and including children with special needs. Would you like to join her? Just click here to register or here for more information about the Group KidMin Conference.

We were also proud of Katie when she was recently a featured blogger on the MOPS International website. You can read her amazing post here. Katie regularly blogs on a variety of topics on Diving for Pearls.

News from the Accessibility Summit

The Accessibility Summit is a leading disability ministry conference held each year at McLean Bible Church in McLean, Virginia. This year's Summit was held on April 20-21, and featured 30 workshops led by experts on a broad range of disability-related topics.  Our own Harmony Hensley presented a very well-attended workshop entitled "Under Construction: Building an Inclusion Ministry."

We appreciate the training opportunity that the Accessibility Summit offers, but equally important are the opportunities for fellowship and networking with other Christian leaders. We re-connected with old friends, met new friends, shared ideas and learned...all for the Kingdom. We serve a MIGHTY King!
PRAYPRAYPRAY!
If you feel led, please pray for the following specific things:
  • For a specific grant request that is currently pending with a local funding source;
  • That we would be able to find an appropriate model by which to spread the Key Ministry message throughout the country;
  • That God would reveal awesome leaders in many different areas of the United States (and beyond) who will collaborate to bring God's BEST to families affected by disabilities;
  • As always, that we have adequate resources to continue doing the work God has given us.

This Catalog Won't Arrive in your Mailbox!

Each day when you get your mail, you probably receive lots of catalogs for various retailers selling all sorts of good stuff. We at Key Ministry are pleased to unveil a different sort of catalog - the  Key Catalog. The Key Catalog is a virtual catalog of giving opportunities allowing donors to "shop for" that just-right project to support.

You can give money toward specific areas that we help with, like Sunday morning or respite care programming for kids with special needs in the churches we serve. You can also give toward our travel (frequent flyer and hotel points, too!), our live trainings, or our online trainings...the choice is yours. Since everything we do for churches is FREE, we can only do so with your support. Please consider giving to Key Ministry today. Thank you!
