Roger Tory Peterson; The Life, The Work, The Legacy
New exhibit opening at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Jamestown, NY.
In the early 1900s, Jamestown, New York's urban nature inspired young Roger Tory Peterson to pursue his celebrated career as a naturalist, nature artist and influential educator. Peterson brought the study of natural history to the people, in a time when this was the realm of academia only. Through his field guides he opened the eyes of millions of everyday people to the beauty and intrinsic value of nature that exists in our backyards.

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute (RTPI) of Natural History is the only official institutional steward of Roger Tory Peterson's body of work and his enduring legacy. It is our mission to successfully foster understanding, appreciation and protection of the natural world in the spirit of Dr. Peterson's many accomplishments.

From April 21st through August 5th, 2018, RTPI will present, "Roger Tory Peterson; The Life, The Work, The Legacy." This exhibit is comprised of pieces from the archives including never before exhibited original works, significant artifacts and memorabilia that tell the story of the Jamestown native.

Visit RTPI to experience the life works of renowned artist, naturalist, photographer, filmmaker and author Roger Tory Peterson. In addition to nature trails in a beautiful wooded setting, the Institute features nature art and photography exhibits, a museum store, and world-class architecture by Robert A. M. Stern.
