Hiscox specialists insurer surveyed 500 small businesses in the US and found the top four mistakes when starting up a business:
- Underestimating monthly expenses
- Hiring the wrong people
- Not knowing how to market and sell their products
- Not securing enough financing
The research also mentioned that business owners face with gaps of knowledge in financing and credit, hiring and firing personnel, and understanding the impact of taxes.

What's the SBA hype?
So much has changed in the last year with SBA and we wanted to share some information on the New Women's Rule and the SBA 504 Refinance program.
SBA Women's Rule is a new federal program dedicated to helping our federal agencies meet the 5% federal women contracting goal. The rule will allow women owned businesses to be awarded SET ASIDE contracts! Learn more here, the rule was implemented in February.
SBA 504 Refinance
