Carver Guild Seeks Volunteers to Fill Vice President & Treasurer Positions 
The Guild is a non-profit organization which supports Waldorf public education through community building activities and fundraising. All parents/guardians of Carver students are Guild members. Interested in the VP or Treasurer posts, or how you can get involved? Email [email protected].
Intramural Basketball Starts March 27
After a fun and successful intramural volleyball season, Carver students are invited to to join spring BASKETBALL. The intramural team is co-ed and practices start on Monday, March 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be two weeks of practice before Spring Break. Games start after break. Please call the office or email the Coach Matthew Mossman [email protected] to sign up to play.

Congrats Carver Volleyball Team! 
Carver beat first place American Legion High School for the season finale. Basketball starts Monday.
 
College Corner NEW!  
Juniors: If you haven't signed up for the ACT or SAT yet, now is the time! Dates of the ACT test are: are April 8, 2017 or June 10, 2017. Sign up at  www.act.org. If you'd rather take the SAT, the dates are May 6, 2017, June 3 2017 or August 26, 2017. Sign up at  www.collegeboard.org.

If you are not taking the ACT or SAT prep class, there are ways for you to prepare on your own. Visit Khan Academy at www.khanacademy.org to get some free online prep work for the SAT. For the ACT, go to www.act.org, sign up for the ACT question of the day and follow the links to online prep. You can also search at amazon.com for SAT and ACT prep books that contain sample questions and tests. See Mrs. Kinn with questions.
SAT & ACT Test Prep Classes for Juniors 
Register now for our FREE test prep classes on Thursdays after school.
Scholars Tutoring Center is working with our College Advisor, Mrs. Kinn to get Carver students ready for college.

Thursdays 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25; all 2:30-4:30 pm
Includes instruction on SAT Test sections Reading/Writing-Language/Math/Essay
 
When you register in the office with Mrs. Agnos, you will pay $20 for the Princeton Review Cracking the SAT 2017 Edition
 
Students are responsible for bringing pencils and a test agency-approved calculator.

In commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, California State legislators Senator Scott Wilk and Assemblyman Adrin Nazarian invite 9th-12th grade students to submit an essay and/or visual arts piece in a scholarship contest. The Sacramento Teachers Association will be providing scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.The deadline is 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 31. Download Scholarship Requirements & Application Guidelines 
 
BloodSource Scholarship Applications are due March 31 and ALL requirements listed below must be turned in to be eligible. Student applicants must be graduating seniors who have served on the blood drive committee at your campus. Essay, high school transcript, two letters of recommendation, and completed application required.
The City of Sacramento's Neighborhood Services Division invites students to its Annual Youth Job & Resource Fair , for ages 16-24. There will be summer employment, volunteer and training program information and resources available. The Youth Job and Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at City Hall Plaza (915 I Street, between 9th and 10th Street). Sierra College's Academic Enrichment Program allows 11th and 12th grade students to earn college credits towards an Associates and/or Bachelor's Degree. In some cases students may be able to earn high school credit. NEW! Mills College to host Be Bold, a special program designed to help rising high school juniors and sophomores navigate the college application process, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 20. The workshop will also provide valuable information for current high school seniors who are planning to transfer from a community college.
Tales from Carver Creative Writers
An 82-page book of poetry and prose by the Creative Writing Club at George Washington Carver High School. It is our first publication. Features writing by Sydney Smith, Felice De Danann, Allen Hamming, Sorina Munteanu, Nadia Garcia, Colin Regan, Grace Fernandez, and Scott Stine.

Music on a Mission Seeks Students 
Music on a Mission is a music lesson studio located in East Sacramento which donates 10% of the lesson cost back to homeless outreach in the city. Music on a Mission is currently accepting new students for music lessons. The more students, the more help we are able to provide! A free introductory lesson is offered to every prospective student.
