Speech and Debate Results for December
Here are the results for December for the DCHS Speech and Debate Team.

On Dec. 3, the team welcomed over 75 competitors from eight schools to compete at Delone Catholic in the Monsignor Lyons Invitational. The team finished 3rd overall. Here are the individual results:

On Dec. 10 the team traveled to La Salle College High School. Kaitlin Repp advanced to the Semi-Final Round of Oral Interpretation and the Final round of Dramatic Performance. In the final round of Dramatic Performance, Kaitlin placed 2nd.

Christmas Concert
Enjoy the sounds of the holiday season on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Gym for the annual Christmas Concert performed by the Delone Catholic band and choir. 
Guidelines for Christmas Sweater Dress Down Day
On Thursday, Dec. 22 (the last day before Christmas vacation) Student Council is hosting a Christmas themed dress down day. This dress down day is only for the students who participated in Thanksgiving Food Drive by bringing in a canned good AND $3.
The following regulations must be followed:
  • Christmas themed shirts (may or may not be considered "ugly Christmas sweaters") may be worn.
  •  Solid red or green shirts may be worn.
  • Christmas themed Onesies are permitted. The shirt underneath must be a T-shirt. (No long johns or pajamas are permitted.)
  • Shirts that have a dominate mix of red and/or green may be worn (Ex. red and green plaid). Red and/or green must be dominant.
  • Sneakers or regular shoes must be worn (no slippers. no boots).
  • Jeans may be worn.(No tight jeans, patched jeans, torn jeans, jeans with holes,  or spandex jeans.)
  • Solid red, green, or black sweat pants may be worn. They may have a logo on them but it should not dominate the pants. 
  • No leggings, spandex, yoga, or pajama pants.
  • Hats and antlers may be worn (removal upon teacher's request).
  • All other dress code rules apply.
  • Writing on any shirt or pants that is not Christmas related should be at a minimum.
Nothing other than what is presented above may be worn.
Any student who does not follow the regulations will be sent to Mrs. Williams for disciplinary action. 
Fundraiser for Tommy Laudani and Family - Ends 12/22
In mid-November, Tommy Laudani, a junior at Delone Catholic, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. The Delone Catholic community has been praying for Tommy and his family in his fight for recovery. Members of the junior class and Cross Country team, of which Tommy is member, have been developing fundraising ideas, including a T-shirt sale and dress down day. 

Please consider purchasing a T-shirt here, with proceeds benefiting the Laudani family. Shirts will be available for purchase until Thursday, Dec. 22 and will be delivered in January to the school. If you are prompted to enter a code, it is A6ABM


A dress down day is being planned for the end of January, and the Cross Country team is organizing a 5K race in the Spring. Please keep Tommy and  his family in your prayers. 

Class of 2021 Application for Admission Discounted until 12/31
Class of 2021 applications for admission are being accepted. The application is available  online here Students who apply prior to Dec. 31 receive $25 off the application fee. Once the application has been received, each incoming freshman receives a Squire's Page Card to use for free admission to regular season home athletic events, school concerts, drama productions, and other school events.

Students are invited to shadow a current Delone Catholic student at any time during the school year. Please  sign up here. Private tours are also available.

Golden Apple Nominations Now Available
The Donahue Family Foundation will again sponsor the 12th annual Golden Apple Awards Program for the Diocese of Harrisburg,  Through the generosity and kindness of the Donahue Family Foundation, the Golden Apple Awards Program has been established to honor outstanding individuals who devote their lives to teaching in Catholic Schools.

The Golden Apple Award will be given to six teachers and one principal, or seven teachers. in the Diocese. The teacher applicant must be nominated by a teacher, parent, or student and parent, in an elementary school; or a teacher, student or parent in a secondary school.  All teacher nominations will be sent to the principal. The principal may be nominated by a teacher or parent and must be approved by the pastor.  Principal nominations will be sent to pastor/chaplain. For more details, and applications,  click here.

Completed nomination packets are due to the Diocese of Harrisburg by Feb. 24.  Please plan accordingly so that packets are given to the principal or pastor with ample time, as explained in the application. 
Diocese of Harrisburg Night at the Hershey Bears
The 10th Annual Diocese of Harrisburg night at the Hershey Bears game will be Saturday, Feb. 4 as we conclude Catholic Schools Week. Here is the order form to purchase discounted tickets. Deadline to order is Monday, Jan. 30. 
Placement Testing for Non-Deanery 8th Grade Students
Delone Catholic desires a smooth and strong transition from grade school to high school for every student. To help ensure incoming freshmen are placed in the courses where they can be most successful, we require each student to take the  High School Placement Test (HSPT)

All eighth graders at Annunciation BVM School, Immaculate Conception BVM School, Sacred Heart of Jesus School, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and St. Joseph School will take the test in their schools. 

Any eighth grader who attends a Catholic school outside the deanery, a public school, home school or other school needs to make arrangements to take the test on either Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 or Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at Delone Catholic High School. Testing will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day. There is no cost to take the exam. but you MUST register.

The test covers English, science and math. Students need to bring two #2 pencils, a pen and a lunch. To register for the test, please  click here. For more information please contact Mrs. Williams

Volunteer Coordinator Opportunity
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations seeks a volunteer with good organizational and communication skills to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator. This position will match interested volunteers with volunteer tasks/positions as needed for the operation and advancement of the school. The Volunteer Coordinator would assist in the volunteers' preparation for each task/position, collect and communicate feedback from volunteers about their experience, and assist in demonstrating our appreciation for our volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator must have or be willing to get all clearances and training required by the Diocese of Harrisburg and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for adults who work with minors. St. Francis Xavier, Gettysburg
Noreen Neitz Run at the Rock and Sufficiently Radical Walk - TOMORROW!
The Noreen Neitz Run at the Rock and Sufficiently Radical Walk will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17 and feature a 5K, 1 mile walk, and new this year - a 10k! Delone Catholic friends, faculty and staff are invited to participate in support of Tommy Laudani. Bracelets will also be sold at the race with proceeds benefiting the Laudani family. 

Noreen was a major part of every aspect of everything that happened at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. Her children attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Delone Catholic, and now are in College or entering the work force.  Noreen Neitz, mother, wife, daughter, friend, mentor, youth leader & Christian, was called to be with our Heavenly Father on July 10, 2013 after a tremendous fight with cancer. As was Noreen's way, even though she is not physically with us, she continues to encourage service to others. In the spirit of service, a scholarship fund has been established in Noreen's name for those 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School who show Christian leadership as active members of the Youth Group and give of their time in service to others. Proceeds will be shared equally between the scholarship fund and St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.
