St. Aidan's Refugee Support
It could be my brother.  The man who kissed his wife, young daughter, and hugged his mother before turning and setting out on a path away... for fear of being forced into violence... searching for a foothold in a safe place where he could bring his family.  Only to wait for months, years in a tent city among thousands just like him for an uncertain fate and the prayer of a reunion with his family.

It could be my sister.  The woman who, in the dead of night carries her baby and walks, holding her 5-year old's hand, quietly to join a small group of others... walking ... fleeing north... or is it south... praying for a safe passage across the border.  Grieving... her husband was dragged from her arms the night before and... it's too terrible.  Too terrible.

This is my brother.  This is my sister.

St. Aidan's Episcopal Church has launched a Refugee Support effort,  and invites you to join us in helping a refugee family transition to their new life in the United States.   Three weeks ago we welcomed our first family, who came to this country from Afghanistan.  We have welcomed them and will offer them a safe home, and a period of support as they transition and settle in to a new life in a new land.

It is our fervent hope that these individuals feel welcome as members of our greater community. St. Aidan's Refugee Support, with your help, has secured housing and provided furnishings, household effects, clothing, linens, groceries, and other material assistance for the early weeks and months after this family's arrival. We will also be providing support for finding employment, learning transportation networks, the English language, financial management practices, and other overall survival skills for our area.

If you are moved to support our effort, we urge you to consider supporting this effort by donating using the link below. Your donation would have direct and immediate impact.
--$25 provides public transportation for a family member to and from work for a week.
--$50 can provide a means for one family member to communicate with employers, friends and family for a month.
--$100 provides the family with a month of internet connectivity.
--$200 would cover a week's worth of basic groceries.
--$250 pays the family's utility bills for one month.
--$500 furnishes the family's kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, and flatware
--$1000

Donate today, and invite friends and family to join you in helping to give a refugee family their life back.
