The Weekly Word
FEBRUARY 25, 2017

We will gather at 8:30am on Saturday morning for coffee & refreshments, and the Visioning Event will begin promptly at 9:00am to ensure that we are finished by 1:00pm.

Visioning Event Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Visioning?
A Visioning Event is an exciting, engaging way for a congregation to visualize where God would have them go as the Body of Christ.

What is the Objective of this Meeting?
The objective of this exercise is to discern a vision for the future of St. Francis Episcopal Church.  The workshop will begin with a review of the church's Core Values and Mission Statement, and through the event, members will develop a consensus around Vision areas.

When is this work called for?
Visioning is an essential part of strategic or future planning, and Visioning is called for at various times in the life of a church.  One such time is when major goals have been accomplished and the church wants to set its next goals.  Another time a church may do vision work is when it has been some years since the congregation reviewed its Core Values and Mission Statement and established goals.  A third time is before beginning the search for a new rector.  This event should only be held when leaders determine that they choose to empower a large group of people to participating in the visioning for a 3-5 year future.

What do we do with the Vision?
At the conclusion of the event, the vision areas are described in a Vision Statement.  The statements are further developed into future-statements that form the basis for goal setting and strategic planning.

Who should attend?
Everyone in the congregation is encouraged to attend.

What do we do with the results of the Visioning Event?
At the first meeting after the Visioning Event, the Vestry will review the documented results and select 3-5 ministry objectives.  These results will be used by the group(s) that has been assigned to do the planning.
