The Weekly Word
bible_beauty.jpg
O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer During this Time of Transition - As we
continue the work of listening to God to discover
His desires for St. Francis, let us pray:
Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth, with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer Page 816)

Prayer Requests

You are invited to submit your prayer requests here. Submission of your prayer request will be received by a member of our office staff and in the included in the parish prayer list. If received after 5:00pm on Wednesdays, or you indicate that you would prefer to keep your prayer confidential, a member of our clergy will address your prayer privately.

Dear Parishioners

If you were sitting on the south side of the church last Sunday, you saw and perhaps met our interim priest, Fr. David Krause.  He came up to meet us--put himself out there, so to speak, and he visited with the vestry, Frances, Deacon Tamara and Jan for a couple of hours after church.  After a very short discussion, we approved him to see us through our transitional period at church.

He is originally an Iowa farm boy, but has come to Central Texas more recently from Bonham and Dallas area churches.

What did we like about him?  He's very open, and surprisingly pastoral, for a guy who doesn't know us at all.  He was already laying hands on Barbara, by the end of the meeting, for a successful cataract surgery this week.  We think you'll like him.

Blessings from your Vestry

Update on the Search!

Many of us are new to the search process. We are currently in the pre-search, and there are tasks we must complete as vestry and as parishioners, before the actual search can begin.

Several of those have been completed in the last couple of weeks, and we are moving onward and upward. Woo hoo!

  1. Our profile committee has been selected and are busy creating an online identity that shows off our parish and community to prospective priests.

  2. Our interim priest, Fr. David Krause, has been selected, and will begin services on March 4.

  3. Vestry approved the use of Holy Cow! a congregational assessment tool that will help us determine what is most important to us in our church and in our priest. It will give our parishioners important input and the results will allow your vestry members to craft a document called "The Rector We Seek," a piece of our online profile.  So be watching for that and be prepared to share what's most important to you.

Ongoing Ministries

TUESDAY SOLACE: Tuesday Solace is a free service supporting families affected by Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and takes place from 1:00 -4:00pm at the Parish Hall. Allowing caregivers respite time, the program provides music and singing, fun, social activities, and loving care to the participants.

FEED MY SHEEP SACK MEALS (FMS):  On the 2nd Sunday of each month, all are invited to gather in the Parish at 9:30 to prepare 100 sack lunches for our neighbors who have limited access to food. The lunches are delivered to Feed My Sheep. Our next scheduled sack meal preparation is Sunday, March 11 .

CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for March 2018 will be Canned Vegetables. Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 9:30am before we sing at the 10:30am service. So come join us!
