The Weekly Word
macro-bread-basket.jpg
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer During this Time of Transition - As we
continue the work of listening to God to discover
His desires for St. Francis, let us pray:
Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth, with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer Page 816)

When you hear the tinkle and clink of ice being made in our kitchen once again, be sure to thank our Gift Shop Board and St. Francis School Director and Board for pitching in to replace it for us. Hooray! We have missed that little luxury.

A big "thank you" to St. Francis School and St. Francis Gift Shop for purchasing a new commercial Manitowoc ice make for church kitchen.

"Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord"

I believe, without hesitation, that we did just that during our welcome reception for Fr. David Krause, our new Interim Priest. We were all so excited to welcome him that he barely had an opportunity to sample all of the delicacies'.

Thank you to all of our chefs' extraordinaire; our behind the scenes kitchen helpers and a huge thank you to my co-chairs, Gail and Heidi, for all of their help and dedication in this and every endeavor.

We are thrilled to have Fr. David, in our midst, and feel confident that he felt the love of our St. Francis Family. As Fr. David said, "This is going to be a fun year"

Thank you,
Linda Frick

Upcoming Events

March Events
Please make note of the following events happening in March.

March 21
: Discovering Your True Self, Detaching From Your False Self
This retreat will be held at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center on March 21 from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The retreat will be based on the book by Fr. Richard Rohr entitled, The Immortal Diamond. Deep within us is the true self; however it has been hidden by who or what we think we should be. We will spend the day identifying the false image we hold on to as we ask the Lord to show us the beauty of our true selves. Bev Collin, assistant director of Cedarbrake will present this day. The cost is $40 and includes lunch. You may REGISTER HERE.

March 25:
Safeguarding God's People Training
11:00am - 12:30pm in the Parlor
There will  be a Safeguarding God's People class for those who need to renew or get certified. Although there are some who, per diocesan policy must take this training, it can be educational for anyone. You MUST have completed the interview and online application process before taking the training. Please see Deacon Tamara or Heidi Couchman to get started or to answer any of your questions.

Upcoming Diocesan Youth Events

April 13-15
: Happening

Happening provides a method through which one's spirituality may be developed, nourished, lived, and shared in fellowship. Those attending Happening (high school student and adults) listen to thought-provoking and challenging talks given by members of the youth staff and clergy. These talks are designed to help the participants to get to know God. After each talk, the opportunity is given for questions and discussion in small groups. Register
HERE.

April 13-15
: Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.)

A Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.) weekend brings together members of the 6th-8th grade youth of the Diocese of Texas as a Christian community. The focus is on "who Christ is." Y.E.S. helps foster a clearer appreciation of self, richer relationships with others, and a deeper experience with Jesus. The weekend is designed to provide an atmosphere of openness where participants can ask questions and have the freedom to explore answers without fear of judgment. Music and games are a very important part of the weekend.
  REGISTER HERE.

July 22-27 : Missionpalooza

Join multiple EDOT parishes for our annual mission trip. This summer we are continuing our disaster relief efforts in the Coastal Bend area of the Diocese of West Texas. Participant ages range from rising 7th graders through graduating seniors.

Ongoing Ministries

TUESDAY SOLACE: Tuesday Solace is a free service supporting families affected by Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and takes place from 1:00 -4:00pm at the Parish Hall. Allowing caregivers respite time, the program provides music and singing, fun, social activities, and loving care to the participants.

FEED MY SHEEP SACK MEALS (FMS):  On the 2nd Sunday of each month, all are invited to gather in the Parish after the 9:30am service to prepare 100 sack lunches for our neighbors who have limited access to food. The lunches are delivered to Feed My Sheep. Our next scheduled sack meal preparation is Sunday, March 11 .

CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for March 2018 will be Canned Vegetables. Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 8:30am before we sing at the 9:30am service. So come join us!
