The Weekly Word
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer During this Time of Transition - As we
continue the work of listening to God to discover
His desires for St. Francis, let us pray:
Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth, with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer Page 816)

A Note From Deacon Tamara
March 4 2018

Noah Schaefer has been transferred.
His new address is:
Noah Schaefer TDCJ#02178942
Holliday Unit (NF) - Texas Transfer Facility
295 IH-45 North
Huntsville, TX  77320-8443

He is not allowed phone calls nor can he be visited. This is the stop that will determine what facility he will eventually be sent to. Please send him a postcard, card, or a letter to keep his spirits up and to let him know that even though we are distant, we are still with him and he is not forgotten. Remember to print or type as well as not use address labels for your return address. Please keep the entire Schaefer family in your prayers.

March 11th will be a Feed My Sheep Sunday. Normally the Gra nts set up the assembly line for sandwich making and sack filling before the service. They are currently vacationing in Africa. Is there a volunteer or two to help set up before the 9:30am service? I'd appreciate it!

And do know what else happens on March 11th?
Daylight Savings Time! That wonderful time of the year where we spring forward and set our clocks ahead one hour. (And takes us at least a week to adjust our body clocks!)

What Search Committee?

Realistically, we are still a good six to eight weeks away from needing a search committee, but since there  have been so many questions, we thought we'd go ahead and put the characteristics of  search committee members out there so you can determine if you might be willing and eligible to serve.

Eventually, the vestry will select seven to twelve  people who will form two teams. They will be trained for the work by Rev. Young, who also trained the vestry.

Characteristics in Short:
Attends Church
Member in good standing
Shows leadership in ministry(ies)
Supports parish mission statement
Will be discreet about the search process
Is available to be trained and to travel Saturdays and Sundays to visit prospective priests

This retreat will be held at Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center on March 21 from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The retreat will be based on the book by Fr. Richard Rohr entitled, The Immortal Diamond. Deep within us is the true self; however it has been hidden by who or what we think we should be. We will spend the day identifying the false image we hold on to as we ask the Lord to show us the beauty of our true selves. Bev Collin, assistant director of Cedarbrake will present this day. The cost is $40 and includes lunch. You may REGISTER HERE.

Upcoming Diocesan Youth Events

April 13-15
: Happening April 13-15
Happening provides a method through which one's spirituality may be developed, nourished, lived, and shared in fellowship. Those attending Happening (high school student and adults) listen to thought-provoking and challenging talks given by members of the youth staff and clergy. These talks are designed to help the participants to get to know God. After each talk, the opportunity is given for questions and discussion in small groups. Register HERE.

April 13-15
:Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.)
A Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.) weekend brings together members of the 6th-8th grade youth of the Diocese of Texas as a Christian community. The focus is on "who Christ is." Y.E.S. helps foster a clearer appreciation of self, richer relationships with others, and a deeper experience with Jesus. The weekend is designed to provide an atmosphere of openness where participants can ask questions and have the freedom to explore answers without fear of judgment. Music and games are a very important part of the weekend.   REGISTER HERE.

Join multiple EDOT parishes for our annual mission trip. This summer we are continuing our disaster relief efforts in the Coastal Bend area of the Diocese of West Texas. Participant ages range from rising 7th graders through graduating seniors. Email Stephanie Townes with interest or questions.
Ongoing Ministries
TUESDAY SOLACE: Tuesday Solace is a free service supporting families affected by Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and takes place from 1:00 -4:00pm at the Parish Hall. Allowing caregivers respite time, the program provides music and singing, fun, social activities, and loving care to the participants.

FEED MY SHEEP SACK MEALS (FMS):  On the 2nd Sunday of each month, all are invited to gather in the Parish at 9:30 to prepare 100 sack lunches for our neighbors who have limited access to food. The lunches are delivered to Feed My Sheep. Our next scheduled sack meal preparation is Sunday, March 11 .
CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for March 2018 will be Canned Vegetables. Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 9:30am before we sing at the 10:30am service. So come join us!
