The Weekly Word
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
MARCH 5, 2017

Temptation - what a difficult word.  We joke about temptations to eat tasty things that are unhealthy - or about spending too much money at a sale - and many other things we consider to be not serious offenses of temptation.  But, I believe it all matters.  Just like the adage that tells us that telling small "white lies" makes it easier for us to tell bigger and bigger lies, anytime we give into temptation - no matter how small - we condition ourselves to take the sin of temptation less and less serious.

Conversely, the more often we resist temptation, we are chipping away at the power that temptation seeks to hold over us.  Then we are on our way to becoming the people that we want to be in our hearts, indeed, we move ourselves more closely to the people whom God wants us to be.
