The Weekly Word
Thought for the Week

welcome_flowers_pear.jpg
In our Collect for this Sunday, we pray to faithfully to confess God's Name. How do we make known the Name of our God? By following Jesus. As we walk on the path that Jesus forges for us, we become image bearers of God. In a world of selfies, it is our faces and our actions that reflect the love and mercy of our Creator. It is no doubt challenging to stay on this path and we will often stray. But Jesus always welcomes our return with love and mercy.

Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Grace and Peace, Deacon Tamara

Feed My Sheep Update

I wanted to let you know that our Sack Meal making for November 12th has been canceled. Additionally, as you know, I serve on the Board for Feed My Sheep and there have been two changes implemented that I would like to share with you:

  1. In order to help curtail the trash that is left on the streets, recipients will be given a choice, effective 11/6, of eating a hot meal inside and leaving the clamshell in the trash bin before leaving or taking a sack meal to go. This means less sack meals for us to make! We will only need to make 100 sack meals instead of 200!
  2. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, groups are being asked to phase out using plastic sacks for their sack meals and instead begin to use paper sacks.

Thank you so much for supporting this ministry!

On a personal note, I wanted to let you all know that I will be on pilgrimage to the Holy Land from October 29th through November 12th. I request your prayers during my absence for a safe and spirit-filled journey.

Deacon Tamara

CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for October 2017 Adult and/or Children's Socks. (Did you know this was the #1 item requested by the homeless?)  Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 9:30am before we sing at the 10:30am service. So come join us!
