The Weekly Word
Thought for the Week
How eager are we to pray? I know that unless I deliberately and intentionally make time for prayer, I just may miss the most important moments in my life - those moments in which I communicate with God. We're talking about God, here! Our Almighty Creator who, in God's great mercy, forgives us for the wrongs we have done in order for us to attain life eternal.  And I am sure that I have done nothing to deserve such loving mercy. Yet God waits for me, always ready to hear from me even while I may neglect our Holy relationship. And all of these gifts of mercy and forgiveness that God so abundantly pours down upon is made possible through our one and only Savior, Jesus Christ.  Thanks be to God!

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, on God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessings+
Fr. Brad

Prayer Ministry

There is power in prayer, especially when many people are praying at the same time for the same request. Many of us cannot engage directly in ministry for a variety of reasons, but we can all pray. Prayer is a way for us to reach out of ourselves. Interest has been expressed to implement a Prayer Ministry at St. Francis. A Prayer Ministry is from and of the people. To begin, a coordinator is needed. This person should be spirit-filled, organized, discerning, and faithful. If you have been seeking a ministry at St. Francis, I ask that you prayerfully consider this one. Please contact me and we can explore together how to create, develop, and build a dedicated group of prayer warriors. Grace and Peace, Deacon Tamara

Wildscape Guild Butterfly News

If you look carefully, you can see many caterpillars on the rue and parsley plants now  in the St. F Butterfly Garden...practically eaten to the ground... these are swallowtails because that's what they eat...also many caterpillars on the purple passion vine...those are the gulf fritillaries...and on the Greg's Blue Mist, usually those are "queens"...very similar to monarchs. Monarch's only "eat" from the milkweeds.  First week in October is predicted to be the big week for Central Texas, but historically it runs anytime from Oct 1 - 23. Ask a Wildscape Guild member for a tour!

CHURCHES TOUCHING LIVES FOR CHRIST (CTLC) :  The collection item for October 2017 Adult and/or Children's Socks. (Did you know this was the #1 item requested by the homeless?)  Items may be brought to the narthex on Sunday or to the Church Office during weekdays.

ST. FRANCIS GIFT SHOP: As most of you know, the gift shop must have two workers at all times.  We are in desperate need of volunteers.  This is a great time to ask your best friend to sit with you and a great time to socialize and catch up. Please consider, just 3 1/2 hours a month and we will put you on the schedule.

ST. FRANCIS CHOIR: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Notice the passage does NOT say we have to have a beautiful voice to praise God! We are looking for new choir members. We practice at 9:30am before we sing at the 10:30am service. So come join us!
