Quote of the Week. . .

Food for Thought. . .
The following is the text that I offered at the recent
rally to Stand against Hate in Stamford.  While the reason for our gathering was despicable and inconceivable in the 21st century (Are we not better than this?  Have we not learned?), the strong showing and the overwhelming commitment to stand against the evil and hatred espoused in Charlottesville was extremely encouraging.  Clearly, there is much more work to do for justice, equity, and peace to be realized for all people.  This is a part of our baptismal calling, "strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being."  Thank you for your part in the many ways that this finds expression in your life and our life together.  To read the text, click here. . .

Link of the Week

A wonderful little reflection not only on the upcoming eclipse but also on other cosmic wonders. . .
For Further Reflection. . .
An excellent opinion piece from The Rev. Steve Paulikas, an Episcopal priest inBrooklyn.  People can disagree about the best foreign policy action with regard to North Korea.  They cannot use Christianity, as does Robert Jeffress, as an excuse for the use of nuclear weapons.

Also, a piece on "What Thomas Merton Would Say About War With North Korea" (thank you Ralph Nazareth).  You can read it  here
