St. George's mission is to share together God's work in our lives through liturgy
and sacrament, through joyous and caring fellowship,
and through courageous and compassionate engagement with the world.

A Word from the Warden
Our new Parish Administrator, Violette DeSantis began work at St. George's on Monday. Violette has spent her career organizing others in business in marketing communications and later database development. In 2007 she became a work-at-home mom as a freelance writer/virtual admin with her organizational skills branching out to manage online content and social media before rejoining the traditional workforce in 2014.
She and her husband Darren relocated to PA from the Capital District region of upstate-NY after his graduation from Drexel. The couple, who both grew up in the "windy village" of Mariaville, have been married 28 years. They have been raising their three artistic, and sometimes quite musical, daughters in a former one-room school house in Broomall. Cristina, "Tina", is a sophomore in college studying studio art, and her sisters Patricia and Elise, are 8th and 6th graders respectively. The family worships together at First Presbyterian Church of Springfield.
Violette shares her love of art and music with her family and enjoys reading, writing, sewing, and watching classic movies. She's also somewhat of a geek who considers herself an amateur bird-watcher, astronomer, and short-wave radio enthusiast. Fun fact about Violette; both her paternal and maternal grandmothers were named Violet. Please give a warm welcome to Violette!

Dear St. Georgians,
On Sunday, Feb 18, at both services, St George's welcomes Jim O'Grady as storyteller in lieu of preacher. Jim is a reporter for National Public Radio and its' New York affiliate, WNYC. He is a longtime storyteller at live events held by The Moth, and a Moth GrandSLAM storytelling champ. He is the author of two books about radical Catholics: “Dorothy Day: With Love for the Poor” and “Disarmed and Dangerous: The Radical Lives and Times of Daniel and Philip Berrigan.” His story is centered on the work of Thomas Merton, the American Trappist contemplative monk (1915-1968). Join him after worship at coffee hour in Jerusalem Hall for questions, discussion.
Faithfully,
Pastor Barbara

Floral Guild Update
We have received only a few notifications through Sign Up Genius for flower memorials this year. Because we are currently in the process of bringing on a new parish secretary, I will be taking over flower scheduling, at least in the short term. Could you please email me at
slabrake@wetlandsandecology.com
if you want to sign up to have flowers placed on any or all of the altars this year? Please note this is a new email address. The cost of flower memorials remains the same as in past years, $45 for the main altar and $35 for St. George’s; payments can be submitted to the office.
The following dates/altars are unavailable for flowers this year:
February 18 through April 1 (Lent through Easter Sunday)
July 1 (main)
September 12 (main)
November 4 (main)
December 2 (main)
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks so much,
Susan LaBrake

Lenten Quiet Morning
Saturday, March 3, 9:30 AM - Noon
Many women today...seeking to live life as Jesus taught it...face a world that seems to have grown more confusing, perhaps even more frightening than the world of, say, just a year ago.
Lies, division, violence and a chaotic culture of anger tear more and more at even our own family, friends and communities. MARY MAGDALENE's experienced intense challenges.
And she didn't just survive. She conquered!
How do we face the growing challenges of today as she did in her day? Perhaps we can meet her all over again...this time just woman-to-woman. Perhaps we can find the way already within us to continue moving through the world with iron-clad, grace-filled strength just as she did.
Sign up in Parish Hall or by contacting the Parish Office!

Good Works Workday Report for
Saturday, February 10, 2018
A great big thanks to Ed Brocklesby, Sr. for representing St. George at last Saturday's Good Works Day in Phoenixville. Ed was part of a team assigned to a home which had underlying structural damage to the front wall. They moved all furniture, etc. from that area of the house to allow for inspection by a structural engineer to formulate plans for repairs.
Thanks also to Jim Burns, Steve Drabkowski, Roland Noreika, Pete Ricci, and Janet Reddin who volunteered for the workday but were unable to participate due to Hal McKelvey's funeral.
St. George’s next Good Works Workday is Saturday, May 12, 2018. Please mark your calendars and consider being part of the team that day. For more information about Good Works, go to

Aid For Friends
On Sunday, March 4 after the 10:00 service, we will assemble Aid for Friends meals for Philadelphia area elderly and shut-ins. We are requesting donations of meatloaf, cooked buttered noodles, green beans, gravy and a few other items. The recipe for meatloaf is also on the sign-up board so that we can all be consistent in what we provide. Please check the sign-up board to see what is needed. Volunteers will be needed that morning to help assemble. Thank you.

MANNA: FOOD FOR A JOURNEY
That is one interpretation of how the Bible defines manna. Food that was provided to the Israelites to nourish them for their journey through the desert. For you and I manna is food, and much more. It is a gift we can provide for those In need for their life journey.
Here at St. George’s we have been creating our own version of manna to meet the needs of the homeless in our area. You have contributed your loose change to fund the bags of manna that our parishioners share with the homeless they encounter where they live and work.
This year during Lent we want to create even more manna...
MO’ MANNA
...and we are counting on you to lend a hand.
Here’s how:
●
Collect loose change and bring it to St. George’s to fund
MO’ MANNA items
●
Contribute items on the manna items list (as requested by clients)
- New white men’s tee shirts (size Large)
- New pairs of men’s white socks
- Juice boxes
- Ramen noodle packets, peanut butter crackers, granola bars
- Toothbrushes
- Travel-sized toothpastes, mouthwash, dental floss
- Travel-sized bars of soap
- small tubes of hand cream
- Small combs
- Small packs of bandaids, hand sanitizer wipes
●
Bring your contributions (cash and items) to
St. George’s by March 11
●
MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR MARCH 18
when all parishioners (adults and children) are encouraged to gather after the 10 AM service to create manna bags
MO’ MANNA on MARCH 18
is a Lenten service project of the St. George’s Outreach Committee. Your family’s participation will ensure that manna will be available for the life journey of those in need. Please join us!
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
