St. George's mission is to share together God's work in our lives through liturgy and sacrament, through joyous and caring fellowship, and through courageous and compassionate engagement with the world.
From the Interim Rector

Dear People of St. George's,

As school buses roll and local traffic quadruples, we know that summer has ended and many are transitioning to a fall routine. I can tell from the sounds emanating from the Ark Preschool that some little ones are making their way into an altogether new experience! And if start of a new season, back-to-school, and all the daily transitions of this life weren't enough - you have a new Interim at St. George's, making her way into new ministry as the parish transition begins.

One of the most common parishioner fears is that the Interim priest will make sudden, unexplained changes to liturgy or parish life that leave folks anxious. My practice has been to join parishes in their traditions and celebrate their unique spiritual gifts. I also ask a lot of questions to understand how some practices and events have evolved and discern their meaning to you. My "listening tour," with the Spirit's help, allows me to get to a deeper level of understanding than where I began.

So we're off and running this Sunday - with the children and youth backpack blessing, the return of the church school and nursery caregivers, choir and, hopefully, the full worshiping community! Welcome back to St. George's! Let's be the people of God together in this bright new fall of 2017!

Appreciatively,
Pastor Barbara

2018 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

This year’s stewardship campaign will begin on Sunday, September 17. Mary Hobart has graciously agreed to chair this year’s campaign. Please pr ayerfully consider the benefits and blessings that come with being a part of this faith community and your role in ensuring its continuation especially during this time of transition. Over the next week, you will be receiving a letter from Mary along with the form to make your pledge for the next fiscal year. The culmination of this year’s campaign will be commitment Sunday on October 15. If you do not receive a letter and form by September 24, please contact Kelly Gallagher, Chris Butto, Steve Krouse or Mary Hobart to obtain a form for this year’s pledge. We hope this year’s campaign will continue the tradition of continuing support, faith and outreach, established by the congregation of St. George’s Church.

Yours truly,
The Stewardship Committee

  • Notes From Lou Carol
All are invited to come and sing with the Senior Choir this season. We will begin our rehearsals on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 PM, upstairs in the choir room. The choir's 1st Sunday service will be on Sept.10, with 9:00 AM call. All voices are welcome to sing with us: soprano, alto, tenor and bass, and no audition is necessary!

The choir has a lot of fun learning a variety of music of many different styles and time periods, and I do take suggestions for repertoire from all. Our 4 professional singers are all returning to sing at St. George's, and they will provide excellent support and continuity, along with our excellent regular volunteers. Come give us a try, and perhaps commit to a few Sundays.

Please contact Lou Carol Fix at LCFix@moravian.edu with any questions or need more information.
