September 12, 2018 - Walking Together in Faith
Empathy - St. Teresa of Calcutta
Dear St. Isidore Families,

Father Kasper’s fourth thing that we cannot change is that “Everything changes and ends.”  Permanence is an illusion. Like parents everywhere, we would love our children to stay at a certain age because they are so good and kind and helpful. This, too, comes to an end; complaining starts and attitudes change. While each age brings joy and heartache, it is through change that growth occurs and that is a beautiful thing, especially in our children. Thank God for change.

St. Isidore School Classic: We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, September 17, at the SIS Classic and/or the dinner that evening. Many thanks to our event chairperson, Michelle Czarnik, and PTG for all their loving work and sincere efforts in making this an enjoyable day for all of us! Last day to buy tickets is today! Click here to buy tickets .

Challenge Success: This Thursday, September 13, we will be hosting a parent educational night with  Challenge Success . It is from 6:30pm–8:00pm in the Bensen Gym. Challenge Success partners with schools and families with information and strategies for creating a more balanced and academically fulfilling life for their children. They believe that effective change happens when all stakeholders—administrators, faculty, parents, counselors, and students—come together to identify problems and work on solutions. The overemphasis on grades, test scores, and rote answers has stressed out some students and marginalized many more. We all want our children to do well in school and to master certain skills and concepts, but our largely singular focus on academic achievement has resulted in a lack of attention to other components of a successful life: the ability to be independent, adaptable, ethical, and engaged critical thinkers. Challenge Success’ work helps to foster learners who are healthy, motivated, and prepared for the wide variety of tasks they will face as adults. Please join us on Thursday as they help us navigate through this journey. It is for parents/guardians of students in grades K and up; no students, please.

Uniform: Many students are out of uniform. We see students with the wrong socks, wrong shoes, no belts, and skirts that are too short. Shoes cannot have patterns, skirts should fall at the back bend of the knee, and socks are to be all white with no symbols. There are also students with “ombre” hair coloring and boys with hair that is too long. We ask that you review the uniform policy in the handbook posted on our school website, pgs. 26-31, and abide by those rules. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Band Recruitment: Ms. Crossen will be inquiring with students in grades 4-8. If you are interested, please make sure to get the details from your students, after Ms. Crossen visits the classrooms in the next days.

Carpool/Drop-off: Many parents are dropping off their children in the morning in the parking lot by the Cardelli Gym and/or on La Gonda or in the small parking lot in front of Kids Konnection. We do not have any personnel there to assist your children to navigate a parking lots or street. This causes a tremendous back-up on El Cerro and La Gonda, which in turn keeps our staff on the streets and out of the classroom longer than necessary. This is NOT safe. Please do not do this.

MySchoolAnywhere/Schoology: Thank you to the parents who have logged into Schoology and have started using it. We have gotten great feedback and look forward to fully utilizing this platform.
You will receive an email requesting you to create an account or update your info, in to MySchoolAnywhere , which is as an online directory. We also use this information to gather data for the PTG printed directory. While we realize that you may not want your information printed in the PTG directory, we do ask that you include, at a minimum, your name and your child’s name. The sooner we receive your updated info, we will be able to get this out to you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Have a great day!

Maria Ward
