A preview of what St. James children are up to - more to come!
The Season of

Thoughts from the Director
Dear Families,

How are we already in the month of April? It seems each year time goes by faster and faster. When I was young, I encouraged the time to rush by, wanting to grow older, taller, catch up with my siblings. Now with my own little ones, I keep trying to find ways to slow time down as to not miss a moment of this magical time with them. Yet, father time always wins. If anyone has found the winning formula let me know! I wonder if time is in our mindset. It feels as soon as spring comes I start prepping for summer and all the activities that will bring. Maybe it's not father time that is winning but my own mindset. Maybe the trick is enjoying each moment as they come and not planning so much ahead but living in the right here and now. I wonder if that is what Jesus taught the most with his parables, living in the moment, making the right choices, and loving one another for the here and now.

There is lots of information below about activities that are happening this Spring and Summer, especially a preview of VBS! So, mark your calendars, live in the moment, and enjoy the activities as they come!

Sunday School
Godly Play ages 3 - 1st grade

The youngsters are hard at play learning about the Parables of the Leaven, the Mustard Seed, the Deep Well, and the Pearl of Great Price. They even made cross necklaces to wear.

They will spend the next weeks learning about Jesus' last days, having a Seder Supper, the Mystery of Easter and Holy Baptism.

The kids enjoy their new music and singing and dancing!
Episcopal Children's Curriculum (ECC) 2nd - 4th grade

Not to be outdone, the older students have enjoyed learning about Jesus' miracles, the parables, and the Lord's prayer.

Next up is having a Seder Supper with the little kids, learning about the author Luke and the apostle Peter. Their days are filled with lots of activities and discussion time.
Young Families Fellowship
New Fellowship Opportunity

Young Family Fellowship (YFF) has begun! We currently meet on Sundays when Sunday school is in session from 9:45-10:30 in the Undercroft (downstairs kitchen-look for signs). We are a diverse group of parents, parents-to-be and parents-in-waiting who meet for fellowship and refreshments. No agenda just a time to get together, share crazy parenting stories, talk about life, socialize, etc. You can drop your kiddos off at the nursery or Sunday school and head on downstairs. Drop in whenever you are here, no obligations. We hope to see you there!
Results from the Gift Market

In November 2016, the Children and Youth participated in Alternative Gifts International Gift Market. The children's project "Restore the Land, Feed a Family in Tanzania" raised over $1200 at the Market. Thank  you for your help with this project! The kids really enjoyed making the seed ornaments. Save the date for next year's market on Nov. 11, 2017.
Vacation Bible School
July 17-20 6:00-8:00pm

All ages are invited to discover Rome in Paul and the Underground Church. It will be non-stop adventure as kids explore ancient Rome, learn biblical lessons, create crafts in Roman style, munch on Roman treats, play Roman games, watch Roman plays and most importantly meet Paul and his underground church. Ages 3 (potty trained) - 4th grade will be part of the fun exploring, middle and high school students can be assistant family leaders. Parents are invited to volunteer as they can and the youngest (not potty trained) are invited to join along with their parents. Look for the flyer in your Easter bulletin. Registration will open after Easter. Kids are invited to bring their friends! No cost but a $10 suggested donation to help cover costs.
