'Tis the Season of

Thoughts from the Director
Dear Families,
This newsletter is to keep you up-to-date on the children's ministry at St. James. It goes out about once a season (sometimes more). If your child is not involved please check out the many ways children can participate at St. James. We would love to have your children come and see all that we do!

Blessings,

Sunday School
Godly Play ages 3 - 1st grade

The youngsters are hard at play learning about the Church colors, stewardship, creation, Noah, Jonah and Moses.

They will spend the next week learning about advent and the special time leading up to the birth of Jesus.
Episcopal Children's Curriculum (ECC) 2nd - 4th grade

Not to be outdone, the older students have enjoyed learning about Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Esau, Joseph, and Moses.

They will also begin learning about John the Baptist, Mary and Joseph, and the birth of Jesus. Their days are filled with lots of activities and discussion time.
Dec. 4th is the last day of Sunday school for 2016, we will resume on January 15th.
Restore the Land, Feed a Family-Tanzania
Community Service Project

Recently, the Children Sunday school teamed up with Alternative Gift International (AGI) to host a booth at the AGI Gift Market. Our project helped farmers in rural Tanzania. Families
rely on what they can grow to put food on the table and generate income. However, most families are struggling to survive as deforestation and environmental degradation have reduced the land's ability to produce. In Tanzania, 42% of children under age five suffer from chronic under-nutrition.
Plant With Purpose (PWP) works with rural farmers near Mt. Kilimanjaro.  The farmers, who are primarily women, are given resources to grow organic, bio-intensive gardens that improve family nutrition and grow marketable produce to sell at market.

Christmas Pageant

The Pageant is on December 18th at 10:00am in the Guild Hall and put on by children, youth, and adults for the congregation. Please come watch the story of Jesus' birth. If you or your child would like to participate in the Christmas Pageant please fill out the informational form and we will be in contact with you shortly.
Young Families Fellowship
New Fellowship Opportunity

St. James is gathering ideas on ways parents can fellowship together while their children are in Sunday school (9:40-10:30). Currently, parents can attend Adult Forum that always has a lively discussion, coffee hour in the lounge with other church members or quiet time in the chapel.

We are now looking at adding another activity to the mix, which is having fellowship together as young families. It would be a time for fellowship, partaking in food, and just enjoying each other's company.

If you are interested on attending, want more information, or have a suggestion please fill out the informational form. Chelsea will be in contact with you shortly. Thanks!
