Lessons and Carols Sunday 12/6 3pm

The Service of Lessons and Carols, has been firmly established as a preparation for Christmas by use at  King's College, Cambridge, England on which the
service at St. John's Church is based.  Jennifer Moore will conduct and Vaughn Watson will play the organ.  Please join us!

Vestry Update

We would like to thank Dean Caveney for his many years looking after the buildings and grounds issues at St. Johns. Dean does many things for us and he continues to lead St. Johns outstanding music program. Dick Perez has assumed the duties of overseer of buildings and grounds. Thank you to both Dean and Dick.

At the last Vestry meeting, Dick Perez reported that work on St. Johns steeple tower has been completed by Zebra Tech and the quality of the work was good. The damage was extensive, but the repairs have given new life to St. Johns steeple.

I am sure you have noticed that new aisle rugs have been installed in our beautiful historic church. The Bedoukians played a significant role in selecting and installing the runners. Special thanks to Jan and Harold. Dick Perez is getting price quotes for track mats and coco mats for winter protection of the rugs. These mats will assist in keeping our rugs beautiful for years to come.

The new sidewalk is in!! We should all thank Eve Ticknor for voicing her concerns to the Town of Essex about the need for the sidewalk repairs. Because the sidewalk is new, we won't be able to use salt on it this winter season. Sand will be used on the sidewalk and salt will be used on the deck.  This change from salt to sand is the reason to take extra care to use the new mats to scrape our shoes and boots well before entering the church. The Vestry has been advised that sand will cut the fibers in the new rug.

Darcey Hale reported that the new chairs for Persell Hall will arrive in the last week of this month.

Thank you to all who volunteer for duties at St. Johns. We have a special congregation and your assistance is appreciated.
