Welcome to the first edition of Josa..f..a..s..t, the weekly email from St. Josaphat Parish that keeps you in touch with your faith and your parish community!

Our featured article will focus on a current topic, while the sidebar serves as a quick reminder for what's happening at St. Josaphat. At the bottom, you will always find links to the daily readings, current bulletin and the St. Josaphat website.

Do you have any ideas for topics of interest? Please email office@stjosaphatparish.org. We will be asking for formal feedback in about 6 weeks. Thank You and God Bless!

Happy 2015 from Fr. Rich!
Now that we are in the new year, I would like to outline the focus of the parish for the next twelve months. We will be participating in two programs that are mandated by the Archdiocese. As I have previously mentioned, we will be participating in the Parish Transformation Project, which will start in Lent this year. The work of this Project will present us with a new/revised Strategic Plan for the next 3-5 years. But even before we enter into the Transformation Project, we know that one focus will be the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign, "To Teach Who Christ Is," which we will begin this summer.
Today I am on a recruitment drive to find some parishioners willing to share some time and wisdom by participating in the Committee that will do the work of the Parish Transformation Project.
To reflect the true make-up of our parish, we're hoping to have between 25 and 40 parishioners representing these and other "interest" groups:
  • families with children in the parish school,
  • families with children attending our Religious Education program,
  • families with grown children,
  • families with babies,
  • singles,
  • couples,
  • people in their first, second or no marriage,
  • those still working,
  • those who have retired,
  • those who are too busy to do one more thing, and
  • those who have plenty of time on their hands and looking for something worthwhile to do with that time.
In other words, YOU! Would you consider being involved in this Project to help steer the next 3-5 years of St. Josaphat Parish? Or, at the very least, would you recommend someone you think would be a great candidate? If so, please email me: rprendergast@stjosaphatparish.org, or give me a call at the rectory (773.327.8955). I will be happy to answer any questions I can about the Transformation Project.

God Bless, Fr Rich
