Dear (Contact First Name),

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten Information Night for prospective families is tomorrow night at 6:30 PM at the Primary School.  Please invite any families who may be looking for a PK or Kindergarten program!

Catholic Schools Week begins on Saturday, January 30th with Open House from 2:00-4:00 PM and Mass at 4:30 PM.  Please join us in celebration of Catholic education.  Take a walk through the classrooms, and enjoy the wonderful displays of student work. Please invite any prospective families you know who may be interested in St. Leander School.

Bundle Up!
Winter days are cold and rainy!  While we are thankful for the gift of rain, we also want to keep our little ones dry.  We often need to move from both campuses to the church or from the primary school to the big school.  Please make sure your children have rubber soled shoes and warm coats with hoods to help keep them dry on these rainy days.
Construction Update
As the construction next door to our primary campus continues, last week we became concerned about the odor coming from the stage of the project involving the application of hot tar to the building. As it was unsatisfactory to us that we would be expected to endure this odor for a long period of time, I met with the supervisor and the on-site supervisor on Monday morning to discuss ways to mitigate our children's exposure to the odor. They will be shifting their tarring schedule to after dismissal on minimum days and will work on Saturday and Sunday as they complete the phase closest to our school. The next phase is further away from the school and on the second floor of the building. They do not anticipate that it will be a problem for us, but they will utilize construction fans to move the fumes away from us. Should this not be adequate, I have a direct phone number to call to let them know.  We will monitor this situation closely, but I am glad the company is being responsive to our concerns.
Bake Sale
The Fourth and Fifth Grade classes will be holding a bake sale to raise money for an in-school field trip/presentation.  Please come out on Friday, January 29th to support our students and enjoy a tasty treat!  Bake Sale Flyer
Transitions
Mr. Trevor Sampson, our PE teacher, has accepted a full time job teaching and coaching at Encinal High School beginning at the end of January. His last day with us was last Thursday. We thank Mr. Sampson for his contributions to our PE program and wish him blessings on his new venture.

I am delighted to announce the hiring of Mr. Jose Luis Nava who will begin on February 1st. Mr. Nava brings a tremendous enthusiasm for educating and coaching young people. We warmly welcome him to our St. Leander School community.

EAST BAY YOUTH FOOTBALL ACADEMY is running its annual youth football combine and clinic.  Kids ages K-8th grade and of all skill levels are welcome.  Each participant is given a written record of performance at the combine. We will run tests just like they do at the NFL combine!!

The second hour is dedicated to an all-position clinic where you will rotate through various stations doing drills to improve throwing, running and catching.  We focus on teaching and learning how to do things correctly and safely. Skills transferable to all sports.
