Dear (Contact First Name),

Attendance Update:
It is very important that all students are at school on time
We have noticed a large number of tardies in the month of September.  Please remember the tardy policy in our parent handbook.  Four or more tardies in one trimester will result in a tardy detention.  Now that we have been in school for about two months, we expect that families have established morning routines and a plan for getting to school on time.  Mrs. Heisick will begin issuing tardy detentions starting November first.  Please make every effort to be at school on time.

Hot Lunch Announcement:
The ChoiceLunch hot lunch program will begin on Monday, November 2nd.  ChoiceLunch has already set up our account for ordering lunches.  You can log on and visit  choicelunch.com, click sign up and enter the school code leander.  Lunches are available to order for November, December and January.  We will finish out all existing orders through October with LunchMaster. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we transition.

Halloween:
We will celebrate Halloween at school on Friday. It is a minimum day with a noon dismissal, but SLED will be open. Please remember that costumes should be fun but not extreme. No excessive gore, weaponry of any kind, or anything too short or revealing. We have little ones with us, so please be appropriate in your choice of costume for your child. Please remember to wear rubber soled shoes, no open toed or heeled shoes.  Our parade will start at 11:15 AM in the Big School. Adults wishing to watch the parade must sign in and get a "Parade Pass" to come into the schoolyard.

If you have completed the Safe Environment for Children training and plan to go into the classrooms to help, you need to sign in the main school office for a "Classroom Pass." The Classroom Pass shows you have completed the training and may be inside the school building. The Parade Pass allows you into the school yard only to watch the parade.

DISMISSAL: Once the Halloween Parade is over, the children will return to their classroom and pack up. After packing up, students will be dismissed as usual. Please follow regular dismissal procedures on both campuses.

Wonderful Opportunity
St. Leander School has partnered with Eye to Eye, a national organization dedicated to empowering students who learn differently. Successful candidates for this program would benefit from high school mentors from Bishop O'Dowd High School who provide leadership, skills, and share their own experiences in school to help our young students advocate for themselves and build on their strengths as learners. These high school mentors have been specifically trained to provide support and encouragement to students with ADD/ADHD as well and a variety of language processing challenges.

We have a limited number of spaces (12 only) for students in Grades 4-7 to apply for this program. The first session will take place next Wednesday, November 4th from 3:30-4:30 in the Art Room. Sessions will take place two to three times monthly through the spring semester. The program is an art-based exploration of learning styles and support. Our students who participated last year loved it, and so did their high school mentors.

If you are interested in your child participating in this special program, please email me at [email protected] and I will be happy to send you the registration form. There is no charge for this program-I ask only a commitment to attend all required sessions which will take place on Wednesday afternoons.

MOMs CLUB NEWS
A special thank you to our MOMs Club and all of the wonderful volunteers who helped to make the Family Harvest Night a great success!  The kids had so much fun on Friday night.  They enjoyed games, face painting, music, the photo booth, and Italian Ice.  Most of all, this was a wonderful community event and a great opportunity to come together and enjoy each others' company.
