Dear (Contact First Name),

Evacuation Drill:
Friday, December 18th will be our schoolwide evacuation drill.  Please remember that every student must be picked up by a parent or other adult designated on the emergency form.  If you need someone who is not on the emergency form to pick up your child, please send in a written note to the school office no later than Thursday, December 17th.  Please make sure to include the person's full name.  A photo ID will be required for verification at the time of pick.  NO child will be released to an adult without written permission and a photo ID.

School Messenger:

We will be testing our School Messenger Alert System next Friday morning.  It will be launched between 10:30 and 10:45.  This will be a reminder notification of the beginning of our Disaster Drill.

Popcorn Fundraiser:

Popcorn Palace orders will be available for pick up on Thursday after school!

Pancakes with Santa a Hit!

Thank you to our wonderful parents who made our Eighth Annual Pancakes With Santa a great success! Our Knights of Columbus cooked up some tasty treats and families enjoyed creating crafts, listening to holiday music, and meeting the Man of the Hour, Santa himself, who took time out from his Christmas preparations to visit! Thanks for all the planning, setup, cleanup, and participation and support!

Super Kids-Super Sharing:
St. Leander School is taking part in a Super Bowl project to help local children in need. It's called Super Kids-Super Sharing. You can help by donating gently used or new items including books, sports equipment, school supplies (new, please) and used cell phones. As you may be cleaning out some closets over the Christmas break to make room for new items from Santa, please consider donating these items.

Our collection will take place from January 5- 18th, 2016.
Our Student Council will take all donated items to the Super Kids collection event on January 21st.

Save the Date:
The Moms Club will be sponsoring the annual Daughter Dance.  The theme will be a Black & White Masquerade Ball.  Don't miss out on the fun.  Please save the date to join us on the evening of January 22nd.

Service Opportunity We have a large load of aluminum cans and plastic bottles which need to be brought to the recycling center. If there are some parents with large vehicles who can redeem these for us, we would be very grateful! Please contact the office if you can help. Thanks!
Caritas
Seventh Grade had a wonderful trip to Caritas Creek last week.  It was truly a week of self discovery,  environmental science, bonding and fun!  Welcome home, Seventh Grade!

3rd Grade Service Project
This past Friday, December 4th, the Third Grade class sold $146 worth of baked goods donated by the families and we were able to donate the unsold goods to Breakfast with Santa.  All the proceeds will go to Midway Shelter a homeless shelter for women and children  located in San Leandro.

As part of the service project, a walking field trip to Safeway with 4-5 parent chaperones will be scheduled next week. The students will be divided into groups and will buy the food items for the shelter.  Students will decide on the proper food items to purchase and they will learn to work with a budget.
