Dear (Contact First Name),

Prayer for Holy Week

Loving God,
I am just beginning to realize how much you love me.
Your son, Jesus was humble and obedient.
He fulfilled your will for him by becoming human and suffering with us.

I ask you for the desire to become more humble
so that my own life might also bear witness to you.
I want to use the small sufferings I have in this world to give you glory.

Please, Lord, guide my mind with your truth.
Strengthen my life by the example of Jesus.
Help me to be with Jesus in this week
as he demonstrates again his total love for me.
He died so that I would no longer be separated from you.
Help me to feel how close you are and to live in union with you.
Amen.

Thank you to our accreditation team for their hard work and dedication.  They enjoyed their visit and loved meeting with the teachers, parents and students of St. Leander School.   Thank you to our families and our staff for shining bright and showing our team that St. Leander is a place of praying, learning, playing and coming together as a community and a family.  The accreditation process is an exciting time to celebrate our accomplishments and look ahead to setting goals for the future of St. Leander School.

Thank you to our parent volunteers who helped to provide meals for our team.  A special thank you to the Moms Club, the Sims family, the Galvan family, the Huang family, and the Fisher family for the delicious food.  Our team appreciated your generosity and kindness.

We thank the parents again for their input at our holiday gathering and the support of our School Board for helping us to develop our goals and for their work on our Strategic Plan.
Listed below are our three action plan goals.

Goal #1:
St. Leander School will engage in professional development to learn how to more effectively use data. We will engage in more focused, regular, and in-depth analysis of test scores and student performance data and use that data to effectively inform and strengthen our instructional practices and provide targeted instruction.

Goal #2:
St. Leander School needs to develop a more rigorous curriculum and instructional strategies, particularly in the areas of Math and Reading Comprehension, and utilize appropriate assessment tools in line with the Common Core standards.

Goal #3:
St. Leander School will develop a formal Resource Program to assist teachers and families in supporting high achievement for all students.

Summer School

Please make sure to turn in your summer school application by April 4th to secure a space in our summer program.  Applications were sent home last week and are available in the school office.  St. Leander families receive first priority. Spaces fill up very quickly, and after April 4th, we cannot guarantee that your child will have a space in our program.  Once a classroom becomes full, we cannot enroll additional students.

Doughnut Sunday

Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who organized Doughnut Sunday last weekend.  Thank you so much for giving your time to St. Leander.

Uniform Reminders

Please remember that all students need to be in full uniform every day.  Easter vacation is a great time to go through uniforms and make sure that clothing is fitting properly.  School sweaters, sweatshirts or fleece are the only uniform sweaters or jackets that may be worn in the classrooms.  Also, remember that shoes must be white or black only and  no colored striping or accents.

HSPT Practice Test

SJND will be hosting a Practice High School Placement Test on Saturday, May 7th from 8:30-12:30 for sixth and seventh grade students.  If you would like to sign up, please pick up a registration form in the school office.  Registration for the practice test is $50 and is due to SJND by Friday, April 29th.

Yearbook Club

The Yearbook Club is looking for photos of students and events from the 2015-2016 school year.  If you have photos to share, please email them to [email protected].  Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos with us!

Important Reminder:
Pasta Dinner & Silent Auction

How will your family participate this year?  We are so excited to be hosting the 6th Annual Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction!  Please remember that every family agreed to get on board and support this very important school fundraiser.  Will your family attend and enjoy a delicious dinner and bid on some fun auction prizes?  Will your family donate auction items or valuable time for set up or clean up?  The opportunities are endless.  So, please don't forget your commitment to making this fundraiser a great success.  The proceeds from the silent auction will be used to purchase a class set of laptops for portable classroom use.  We are so excited to be able to give our technology program a boost!  Your contribution is important, so help us make this goal a reality.
