Dear (Contact First Name),

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and refreshing break. We are truly in the home stretch of the school year. Gradebooks for the first half of the final trimester will close next Friday and progress reports will come home on Wednesday, April 13th.  Is is easy for our students to start to lose their focus and get "spring fever" this time of the year. Let's keep working together to keep them on track for a strong finish!

Looking Ahead!
Registration for the 2016-2017 School Year
Enclosed in your family envelope is information about registration and tuition rates for the upcoming year. Many thanks to our accountant, Paul Beasley, for his hard work on our budget. You will see that the majority of our budget goes for salaries and benefits, and these costs, as well as many costs, continue to rise every year. We always expect to have to increase tuition 4-6%, but we have always been able to hold the increases to below 5%, including this year. Please take time to look over the tuition letter as well as the budget information so that you understand the new rates.  All tuition and fees must be current for this school year before registering for the fall.  Thanks!

Transitions
Some parents have been asking about the search for our new principal for St. Leander School. Fr. Hugo has consulted the School Board and has convened a committee which will be meeting in the next few weeks. You should be hearing soon!
With a positive and very successful accreditation visit behind us affirming the excellence of our school, you can be confident that the strong program at St. Leander School will continue. Once our  staff contracts have been finalized, changes in our staffing for the upcoming year will be announced. Contracts will be given on April 15th and will be due back to me by May 1st.

This week, it was announced that my next position beginning in July will be at St. Edward School in Newark. I will be sharing the position of principal on a part time basis. I have treasured my time at St. Leander School and will carry these ten years with me in my heart always.

Summer School

Please make sure to turn in your summer school application ASAP.  Classes are filling up very quickly, and  we cannot guarantee that your child will have a space in our program.  Once a classroom becomes full, we cannot enroll additional students.

Safety Reminder-No Pets On Campus

Please do not bring dogs or any other pets on the school grounds during or after school hours.  Large groups of people can often make animals defensive or anxious, and we want to keep our children and our pets safe.  In these types of situations, even the most well behaved pet may react defensively or erratically if feeling threatened.  Please do not bring pets on the school campus for any reason.  It is a safety issue, a liability and against school and diocesan policy.

HSPT Practice Test

SJND will be hosting a Practice High School Placement Test on Saturday, May 7th from 8:30-12:30 for sixth and seventh grade students.  If you would like to sign up, please pick up a registration form in the school office.  Registration for the practice test is $50 and is due to SJND by Friday, April 29th.

Yearbook Club

The Yearbook Club is looking for photos of students and events from the 2015-2016 school year.  If you have photos to share, please email them to [email protected].  Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos with us!

Important Reminder:
Pasta Dinner & Silent Auction

How will your family participate this year?  We are so excited to be hosting the 6th Annual Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction!  Please remember that every family agreed to get on board and support this very important school fundraiser.  Will your family attend and enjoy a delicious dinner and bid on some fun auction prizes?  Will your family donate auction items or valuable time for set up or clean up?  The opportunities are endless.  So, please don't forget your commitment to making this fundraiser a great success.  The proceeds from the silent auction will be used to purchase a class set of laptops for portable classroom use.  We are so excited to be able to give our technology program a boost!  Your contribution is important, so help us make this goal a reality.
