A Message from the Principal...
Dear St. Louis Families,

Today we celebrate Veteran's Day at St. Louis Church and School! How grateful we are to the many veterans and active service members who sacrifice so much for our freedoms! Please know that our students and staff pray daily for you and the service that you so willingly provide for all of us.

This coming week is "Discover Catholic Schools Week"; a time when schools around the diocese open their doors to prospective families and share the gifts of a faith-centered education. We will have open houses for Preschool through 8th grade this Sunday, Nov. 12th from 10am-1pm and on Tuesday, Nov. 14th from 9am-12pm. I am so grateful to those parents who are volunteering their time to give tours to prospective families, and to our NJHS students, who are assisting as well.

You may have noticed a security car on a regular basis in our school parking lot! Our new pastor, Fr. O'Hare, wanted to make sure that his school and parish are equipped with the same service that so many others have initiated, and he has decided to increase our part-time security company hours to full-time, 7 days a week. We are grateful for his dedication to parish safety and to the proactive role that he is taking towards ongoing security.

"Coffee with the Principal" is coming up this Wednesday morning right after prayers! Consider joining me for a morning cup of joe and enjoy a Q&A session.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family!

Peace,
Kathleen McNutt
Principal

CYO & Extracurricular Activities
Operation Gratitude Thank You
On behalf of Operation Gratitude, the 4th grade junior girl scout troop would like to thank everyone who donated Halloween candy, toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, and homemade cards. The scouts collected 247 pounds of candy, an amount that far exceeded our expectations! Next, we will combine efforts with all of Saint Louis girl scouts to collect used and new coats for United Community Ministries. More information about this project will be forthcoming. Once again, thank you for your generosity!
Cross Country End of Season Results!
The St. Louis cross country team finished its season last weekend at the CYO Championship meet at Burke Lake Park. All of the runners did great with a number of athletes who were competing for the first time excelling in their first championship race and a number of runners reaching their personal best. Across the teams, we had some outstanding results including:
  • The 3rd/4th grade boys team placing 4 runners among the top 50 finishers
  • The 3rd/4th grade girls team finishing in 6th place overall and placing 4 runners among the top 50 finishers
  • The 5th/6th grade girls team placing 4 runners among the top 50 finishers
  • The 7th/8th grade boys team having both of its runners finish among the top 30 runners
  • Our sole 7th/8th grade girls runner finished among the top 25 runners

Last, special kudos to the 5th/6th grade boys team that one 1st place overall. This team had the 1st place overall finisher, Augustine Howard, and the runner-up for the St. Sebastian award for top overall finisher across the three CYO cross country races, Dean DeLorenzo. This team also had town other runners who finished among the top 15 runners and a team member who ran a personal best.

Equally importantly, this team excelled at practicing well together and supporting each other. This finishing area was frequently lined with St. Louis athletes, siblings, parents and supporters cheering on our runners. Also, special thanks to St. Louis alum and Bishop Ireton cross country athlete, Kyle Nienaber, who served as the lead cyclist for all of the races on Sunday. And our biggest thanks to our fabulous coaches, Brian Nienaber and Chris Richey for their guidance, support and example for all our runners.
