One Couple's Intimate Wedding at

 "I was planning a surprise birthday party for him, but it didn't work out because instead, he took me to Big Surto ask me to marry him," she remembers. Nine months later, on March 

12th, 2014, they brought just six guests with them to the beaches of St. Lucia for a sunny, simple wedding, photographed by Lilian Haidar.


Though Natasha and Farhad met in London in January of 2010, they still haven't quite gotten the story of how they met straight. "An old friend of mine invited me to dinner, where I met Farhad. We still don't know whether or not it was a set-up!" Natasha laughs.


The couple celebrated with a traditional Caribbean fruitcake. "The whole day was perfect," says Natasha. SLHTA Met with the Canabelle Cooperative Society Ltd in Canaries

On Wednesday 19th November 2014, the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association's Executive Vice President Noorani Azeez and Project Assistant Wendel George met with members of the Canabelle Cooperative Society Ltd in Canaries in an effort to understand the challenges they are facing as well as to create more avenues for the sale and distribution of their products.

 

Canabelle Cooperative Society Ltd offers a wide variety of natural hand-made soaps from Aloe Vera to Glory Cedar, Hibiscus, Mint, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Cucumber among others.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to assist with basic logistics in terms of marketing, selling and distribution of their products to various hotels and boutiques who are members of the Association. The cooperative is made up of five individuals and can produce up to 500 bars of soap per day, but currently they produce based on requests.

IGY Rodney Bay Marina Partners With Guardsman St. Lucia Ltd.


 

The IGY Rodney Marina in Saint Lucia, one of the Caribbean's leading centers for yachting and sports fishing, has enhanced its security services by partnering with Guardsman St. Lucia Ltd. The official security-handover took place on Monday, November 17.

Mr. Wendel George of SLHTA Awarded by the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) 


On Thursday the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) presented awards to persons who assisted with planning the NCPC's first Productivity Awareness Week Activities.


 
Mr Wendel George was presented with a special award for his dedication and commitment to the success of the week.


 
Mr Rayneau Gajadhar, Chairman of the Council said "Wendel went above and beyond the call of duty while still undertaking his normal duties at the SLHTA to moderate the Tourism Forum, assisted with the judging of the schools essay competition, source prizes for the awards ceremony at the SALCC among many other tasks that he assisted with."


 
By extension, we would like to thank Mr. Noorani Azeez, Executive Vice President of SLHTA for his commitment to the NCPC by assigning Mr George to assist the Secretariat.

Three Employees from Saint Lucia completed French Training in Guadeloupe


On Friday 21st November 2014, employees from the Bay Gardens Resorts and Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa & Beach Resort returned to St Lucia today after undergoing two weeks of French Language Training.

 

The training was formulated primarily for employees who interface directly with guests. As part of the training module, participants were required to complete assignments as well as make presentations in French.

 

Upon completion of the training, participant were awarded certificates of participation. This is the 3rd year the SLHTA has participated in the programme which is facilitated by the Institut de Coop�ration Franco Cara�be (ICFC), and the interest continues to grow as properties seek to target more French markets.


Nadine Dupres and Kirvin Issac  represented Sandals Resorts while Lilia Paul represented Bay Gardens Resorts.

Private sector positioning for a green revolution in St. Lucia

 

A new front on the business landscape has opened with a new cadre of entrepreneurs seeking to explore opportunities in the provision of energy efficient products and services.
