Carey's Conversations
"Praise him with the timbrel and dance;
praise him with stringed instruments and organs."  Psalm 150.4

Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that gifts totaling $114,500.00 have been pledged for the completion of St. Luke's pipe organ! In addition there are a number of other pledges to insure continued maintenance for years to come!

From early on in my time with you I have had various individuals talk about the original plan for our pipe organ was to have quite a few more pipes, reeds, and stops. With a price tag of over $100,000.00 it seemed unlikely. One fine day some folks began discussing this again and a pledge was made, then another, then another to the point that we are ready to proceed as soon as we have a contract. Once completed this will secure a place for our organ as one of the finest in the metro area.

You'll be hearing more about this in the days ahead but wanted to go ahead and share this good news of the generosity of St. Luke's parishioners!

On a seasonal note I hope you have enjoyed a holy Lenten season. A holy Lent leads us nicely into Holy Week and I encourage you to attend as many services as you are able. It all begins this Sunday with the Liturgy of the Palms with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem followed by the liturgy of the Passion of Christ. There will be a noon Eucharist on Wednesday sometimes called "Spy Wednesday" when Judas strikes a deal with betrayal. On Maundy Thursday we celebrate the institution of the Lord's Supper and include a service of foot washing (optional). Then the day we call Good Friday when Jesus gives up his life for us on the Holy cross. Then with the lighting of the paschal candle we celebrate the first service of Easter at the Easter Vigil. We'll initiate a new child of God through baptism as we recount the stories of our salvation. Finally, Easter Day we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord with festal choir and brass!

I look forward to seeing you and being with you during these high and holy days!

TONIGHT: Passover Seder, 6pm

What does a roasted egg, chopped apples, horseradish, salt water, unleavened bread and a roasted egg have in common. They are all sacramental elements in a sacred meal that takes us back to our Jewish roots. In the Passover meal, we celebrate the freedom of God's people throughout the centuries and we as Christians can look back and see how these symbols also point to Christ the Messiah who came to bring the whole world the good news that they too have been chosen by God.
Garden of Repose

If you wish to bring plants for the Garden of Repose, please have them in the chapel and labeled by Palm Sunday. You can pick up your plants on Good Friday. Please retrieve them no later than Easter Sunday.

Help Needed!

Many of our ministries are in need of help. If you are interested in any of the following ministries, please contact Caroline in the church office. Thank for you continuous and generous support!!

1. Counters: Assistance is needed with the count. This is done on Monday mornings.
2. PIE Ministry: We need new PIE delivery people. This is a rotating schedule and pies are generally delivered after the 10:30 service.
