This Sunday in worship at 10:30am
hear a message from Rev. Mary Beth Morgan titled Are We There Yet? And, Where Exactly is "There"? The scripture reading will be Matthew 17:1-9.
Music by organist, Pam Freeman, and Chancel Choir led by Gerry Sousa, will be enjoyed along with hymns, prayer, and a time of greeting. Nicolas Narducci will offer our music during the offering. Children and Youth will participate in leading worship.

CHILDREN & YOUTH IN WORSHIP LEADERSHIP
All children and youth are welcome to participate in leadership roles on any Sunday, and especially this month in this Sunday's worship service. Children and youth are welcome to be greeters (hand out bulletins), acolytes (light candles), liturgists (lead a prayer or read the scripture), create the bulletin cover, share a musical piece, artistic talent or another leadership gift with the congregation. There are opportunities for all ages. Please contact Mary Beth Morgan if your child/youth would like to participate.

Confirmands will meet with Mary Beth and Jimmy from 11:30am-1:00pm, immediately after worship, in Room 8. Lunch will be provided for all those attending. The topic for the session is "Who Is a United Methodist?" Contact Mary Beth or Jimmy for more information about the meeting.
ST. MARK'S NEW DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
WELCOME REVEREND SARAH GETTIE McNEILL
We are pleased to share that Rev. Sarah Gettie McNeill has started as St. Mark's new "Director of Children's Ministries." Sarah is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, who grew up in the Church of Christ. She is married to the Rev. Scott McNeill, who is the Associate Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bloomington. Together, they have two beautiful sons, Elijah and Lucas, who are 4 years and 5 months old, respectively.
Please welcome her to St. Mark's.

ST. MARK'S COMMUNITY IS PARTICIPATING IN
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY "CommUNITY INTERFAITH BUILD 2017"
When Habitat for Humanity builds a home, the owners pay a mortgage that funds another home until eventually they build a commUNITY. There is a limit to how many people can build a Habitat house, but there is no limit to how many people can contribute to the building. You can sponsor a volunteer builder for the UNITY Build by making a secure
donation on-line HERE
and participate in fundraising events.
SIGN-UP FOR THE INTERFAITH HABITAT BUILD "FRAME-UP BLITZ"!
The Community Interfaith Habitat for Humanity Build begins with a "Frame-Up Blitz" from March 31-April 2! In the spirit of this build, volunteers from each of the nine participating faith communities will build together each day. We look forward to partnering with Gustavo and Itzel Diaz, and their five children, as together we build their home and relationships with one another.
The St. Mark's Community has 5 morning and 5 afternoon shifts to fill for each of these three days. These are "Hammer Heavy Days," which require some strength and physical stamina. There are also opportunities to provide & serve food and other supporting roles. No experience is necessary, but builders must be age 16 or older. Other build opportunities will be added for future dates.
Participating faith communities include: The Bahá'í Faith of Bloomington, Congregation Beth Shalom, First Christian Church, First Presbyterian Church, First United Church, the IU Interfaith Coalition (Muslim Student Association, Christian Student Fellowship, UKirk, Hillel, Project IMPACT, and Indian Student Association), St. Mark's United Methodist Church, St. Paul Catholic Center, and Unitarian Universalist Church.

TO SUPPORT "CommUNITY INTERFAITH BUILD 2017"
All proceeds will support the Interfaith Build which begins next month. All are invited to this evening of musical entertainment and light refreshments. Musicians include Craig Brenner, Sarah Flint & Hoosier Darling, Mike McGregor, Andy and Hank Ruff and others. Tickets are $10/adults, $8/students, $30/family pass for families of 4 or more. (Wine and beer will also be available in a separate area for adults.)

KNIT-A-THON TO SUPPORT "CommUNITY INTERFAITH BUILD 2017"
Thanks to a surprise donation to our prayer shawl group, we are hosting this fun interfaith event to compound the original gift, while making new friends and helping build a home for Gustavo's family. There are two ways you can participate.
You can participate as a knitter! Knitters will bring their knitting/crocheting/crafting projects and work on them throughout the event. The fundraising goal is $20-$50 per knitter. Soup and sandwich lunch provided by a generous benefactor.
Not a knitter? You can sponsor a knitter!
For the next two Sundays, make your contribution at the Knit-a-Thon display in Garton Hall, see the list of our knitters and find information about the Habitat family. Five dollars per family would more than meet our modest fundraising goal.

The confirmation program includes opportunities for group experiences, time with a mentor, trips to other faith communities, service experiences, and a retreat. Mary Beth Morgan and Jimmy Moore will be leading the Confirmation program this year.

"Babylonian Exile & the Persian Restoration"

Prof. Magness continues the story with the Babylonian destruction of the kingdom of Judah in 586 BC and the Babylonian Exile, ending with the return of the Judeans from exile under Persian rule.
All are welcome at any point in the lecture series. Come join us for the presentation and the resulting discussions.

The Nomads are a generally progressive group who meet Sundays at 9:30am in Room 10 for fellowship and discussion of selected readings on issues related to faith, spirituality, or social justice.
In February the Nomads class will be discussing the book Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith, by the contemporary American poet/writer Kathleen Norris, which focuses on the "language of Christianity" and the author's own gradual conversion and faith journey.
The class meets each Sunday at 9:15am in Room 10 and all are welcome, with no preparation required.

The Bible Banter Adult Sunday School class meets in Room 11 each Sunday morning from 9:30am-10:15am. The class uses the Scripture text for the morning's sermon as a discussion-starter.
We look at the passage in its larger context, and sometimes explore a bit of Bible-writing history. We offer some thoughts on what the morning's sermon might look like, based on the Scripture the pastor has selected. We leave time to discuss implications of the Scripture for our own lives, and often even delve into topics far afield of the morning's original topic. You are invited to bring some breakfast goodies into Room 11 and join the conversation.

CONVERSATIONS ON LIFE MEN'S GROUP
During February & March the men's group will be reading & discussing
Ten Prayers That Changed the World
by Jean-Pierre Isbouts. The book looks at moments in history where prayers offered by great leaders, from Joan of Arc to Martin Luther King, Jr., have lifted the faith of others in order to change the course of history. A different prayer will be studied each week, so visitors are welcome to join the group in Room 15 on any Friday.

This year's Young at Art Festival hosted by St. Mark's Nursery School & Kindergarten theme is "Wonder in Art, Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)". Young children and their families can explore STEM activities. This
free event includes: nature, liquids & solids, painting, construction, collage, pendulum painting, shadows, sun-catchers, sound & colors, and more!

LENTEN SERIES: FAVORITE BIBLE STORIES-SESSION 2
Come to St. Mark's on Fat Tuesday for a pancake dinner followed by the second session of this year's Lenten Learning Series. This week Rev. Tim Jessen will ask: "What Is In a Name?", drawing from the life-altering outcomes of a late night wrestling match.
Read Genesis Chapter 32:9-32 to be ready for the lively discussions. Rev. Jessen did his graduate work at the Princeton and McCormick Theological Seminaries, completing a Doctorate in Ministry. He served as minister to Presbyterian churches in Kentucky and Indiana and as chaplain at the Putnamville Correctional Facility. Tim now teaches philosophy and religious studies at Ivy Tech and he has maintained his long-time connection with St. Mark's through the Nomads Class and the Conversations on Life men's group.

As we begin our 2017 Lenten journey, all are invited to gather together in the Sanctuary for either Ash Wednesday service. Reverend Jimmy Moore will lead these services of word, music, reflection, and the imposition of the ashes. The noon service will be brief to enable those who are on their lunch hour to participate. The Chancel Choir will sing at the 7:00pm service. Childcare will be available at the 7:00pm by contacting the church office.

Attention all St. Mark's women! Save the date for the 2017 Women's Retreat which will be held April 7-8 at Waycross Conference and Retreat Center in Brown County. Our leaders will be Mary Ann Moman, a former pastor of St. Mark's who has led several wonderful retreats for us, and her daughter Anne, Minister of Youth and Young Adults at North UMC in Indianapolis.
