Music for the Sunday morning service will be provided by organist Pam Freeman and a "Ya'll Come" choir, a combination of St. Mark's choir members and volunteers from the congregation, under the direction of Gerry Sousa. Sign up today in Garton Hall to provide breakfast on a future Sunday. Contact the church office or breakfast coordinator Christine Conrad at 812-961-2959 or [email protected]

Children, Friends & Family
After taking a summer hiatus, CELEBRATION! is back and better than ever.  Over the summer, we realized we love the multi-generational community that happens during our Sunday morning breakfasts, and we adore having everyone be able to enjoy our church's musical talent. Now, we can have the bests of both worlds! CELEBRATION! will continue on Sunday mornings and will now take place in Garton Hall, near the piano.  All will be invited to reflect on the theme for the day, as conversation questions will be distributed on the breakfast tables, and church goers of all ages are invited to take part in the hands-on experiences available at the tables near the piano.  On Sundays when he's available, Aaron will close our community out in song as we end in a communal "Great Amen" before heading to the Sanctuary for worship.

Sunday School Registration Renewal
Complete registration forms here.
If you have not yet registered your child for Sunday School this year, please do so today. If needed, forms are available at the Sunday School table in Garton Hall. This form is an annual requirement for each child (multiple children can be entered on one form).

Parenting Facebook Group

Bible Banter

The Bible Banter class meets in Room 11 each Sunday from 9:30-10:15am. The Scripture text for the morning's sermon is used as a discussion-starter.

We look at the passage in its larger context, and we sometimes explore a bit of Bible-writing history. We offer some thoughts on what the morning's sermon might look like, based on the Scripture the pastor has selected. We leave time to discuss implications of the Scripture for our own lives, and we often even delve into topics far afield of the morning's original topic. You are invited to bring some breakfast from Garton Hall into Room 11 and join the conversation.

Adult Sunday School, 9:15am
Nomads
The Nomads class is a generally progressive group which meets each Sunday at 9:15am in Room 10 for fellowship and discussion of selected readings on issues related to faith, spirituality, or social justice. This Sunday and in August, Nomads will discuss Ten Prayers That Changed the World - Extraordinary Stories of Faith That Shaped the Course of History  by Jean-Pierre Isbouts. All are welcome with no preparation required.

Lecture 31 on Sunday, August 20th :
"The Second Jewish Revolt against the Romans"
After 70 A.D., the Jews awaited the day when the Romans would grant them permission to rebuild the temple, just as the Persians had done earlier. As the decades went by and permission was not forthcoming, the Jews became increasingly anxious. Initially, revolts broke out among Jewish Diaspora communities in Egypt and North Africa, in Mesopotamia, and on Cyprus between 115 and 116 A.D., during the reign of the emperor Trajan. We are not sure what kindled these revolts but, they were suppressed harshly.
car-front-icon.gif "PAVING THE WAY" PARKING LOT REPAVING PROJECT-UPDATE
If you have driven on the St. Mark's parking lot recently, you likely noticed that your ride was really smooth, and that the lot is now more structurally sound, safer and offers a welcoming entrance to the church property. Thank you to everyone who has given or pledged to the "Project St. Mark's, the Sequel" capital campaign (which included the parking lot), and to Paving the Way (a special fund designated for the lot)! We are also very grateful for the donations from many individuals and non-profits who meet at St. Mark's. A generous anonymous donor matched a portion of these gifts, as well.

The initial estimate for the parking lot repaving was approximately $107,000. Once the work began, it was discovered that the subsurface was in worse shape than expected. The Trustees determined that this remedial work was necessary, and received approval from the Leadership Council to proceed (adding a little over $30,000). Please prayerfully consider donations and pledges to this project if you have not, yet, donated or can help a little more. For more information, please contact the church office.
