Now through October, we will be featuring  weekly messages regarding the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.

Reformation Faces:

As typical parents, Hans and Margarethe Luder were critical players in forming the reformer, their son Martin. Their high expectations and strict punishments for even the smallest offense helped teach the formative lesson: that all transgressions must be atoned for. Luther respected his parents and even recognized that his entrance into the Erfurt monastery, against his father's will, was a break in the Fourth Commandment. Yet, God did use it for good.
(Romans  8:28).
Pastor Wendorf's Weekly Devotion
Set Free
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  -John 8:36

Recently I read the story of a man who was in jail for over 20 years for a crime he did not commit. Another convict, on death row, finally confessed to the crime. The man in jail for 20 years was then "set free." When we are forgiven by Jesus, although guilty of our crime, we are also "set free." Do you think the prisoner who was found innocent stayed in jail? No way! Yet many who have been "set free" by Jesus, still feel imprisoned in the guilt of their sin. If you ever feel that way,  remember what Jesus said in our text. Do not stay locked in the prison of guilt. For Jesus has "set you free" and if Jesus does that, know that you are free  indeed. Thank you Jesus for the freedom that you give to us from of our sins. Amen.
