Dirty Cups
First clean the inside of the cup and plate.
-Matthew 23:26

In our lesson, Jesus points out the obvious. If you are washing a cup, you must clean the inside of the cup. Imagine, sitting down at the table with a cup for your coffee. As the waitress is about to pour, you look inside and see a "dirty cup". What would you say? On the  outside, the cup looked fine, but only when you looked inside did you see the problem. In our lives the same can happen, we can look good on the outside to the world around us, but what is going on in the inside of our lives? Is there some dirt hiding there? Our sinful natures make it impossible to be totally clean. The message of hope that we have as we look at the "dirty cups" of our lives, is that we have someone who is able to clean us inside and out. As we confess, Jesus is there with His forgiveness to clean the stains. Our dirty cup lives do not stay that way with the help of Jesus. We thank you Jesus for your cleansing power in our lives. Amen.

2017 Christian Gift Planning
As Christians, we are directed by the Lord to bear fruit for Him:
"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last..." -John 15:16

Living as fruitful stewards means that we acknowledge God as the owner and we are the managers of His gifts. So in response to our Lord's instruction, to bear fruit that will last, the Stewardship Board and Endowment Committee invite you to attend one of three workshops on Christian Gift Planning. The workshops will be run by two Gift Planning professionals, Greg Fictum from Concordia University (left) and Craig Mellendorf (right) from SFC Estate Coaching. There is no cost to attend, as this is being paid for by a St. Paul endowment grant.

Christian Gift Planning Workshop Event
Saturday August 5, 6-6:30pm
Sunday August 6, 9:30-10am & 10:45-11:15am.

Handbell Ringers Needed
If you are musical but don't just sing, if you have rhythm but don't just dance, if you have time but don't just want to sit around, then maybe the St. Paul handbell choir is just the thing for you. The adult handbell choir will be looking for at least 3 ringers for this upcoming year.  Qualifications needed: Ability to read music; willingness to make a commitment to weekly rehearsals and to play in church bi-monthly (various services); and ready for a good time. Rehearsals will be Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm starting the Wednesday after Labor Day (during Lent and Advent we practice after the church service). If you would like more info or are interested in ringing bells this fall, please contact Kris Schroeder at  414-218-7000  or at  [email protected] .
