St. Paul's Church

May 30, 2014

Jesus said, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

Dear St. Paul's,

On Sunday June 8, we will celebrate Pentecost, the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all believers.  The Lord fills us with the Spirit so that we can bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to ends of the earth.  There will be two groups of missionaries from St. Paul's doing international trips this summer.  Jon & Marianne Day will be joining First Presbyterian Church in going to South Africa, and six missionaries from St. Paul's will be in the Central American country of Belize June 7-14.

During the Belize trip, we'll be partnering with Bob and Denise Webster's former parish, Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church of Pembroke Pines, FL.  Holy Sacrament is a vibrant, multiracial congregation with many folks of Caribbean heritage.  We're excited to be a part of a mission team of 38 people!  I will serve as an assistant to Fr. Tony Holder who will be the spiritual leader of the mission.  I will conduct some of the daily devotions and celebrate the Lord's Supper.

Our daughters Amanda and Rosie will join me on the trip, so it will be a huge blessing for me to serve along with them in the mission field.  Bob Webster and Robby Walker are also going, along with Robby's son-in-law Chad Lariviere.

                                     Belize Mission

We'll do a variety of projects at two sites - the Anglican School at Queen's Square and Dorothy Menzies Childcare Center.  We'll be involved in a variety of ministries including Vacation Bible School, light construction, pediatric health care and workshops on healthy Christian living.  The trip is possible because of the faithful and generous giving of all of you at St. Paul's, and allows us to fulfil our call to "bring Christ to the world."  The Outreach Budget will offset some of the cost of the travel, as well as some of the construction supplies.

Would you partner with us by praying every day for the Belize mission trip, and also

for the Days in South Africa?  We're excited to see the Holy Spirit move in power to miraculously transform lives all over the world.  To God be the glory!

Gratefully in Christ,

Pr. Jon

                                                                                             Belize - Dorothy Menzies

Jon & Marianne Day will travel to the A.K. Children's Home outside of Johannesburg, South Africa from June 18th through July 3rd, 2014.

The Children's Home is an orphanage that houses boys and girls from infants to 18 years of age. Many of the children suffer from severe diseases including AIDS caused by HIV.  Their granddaughter Jillian will travel with us along with 15 other adults and young adults.

Your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated as tbey engage in

God's work in other places.

  TO INFINITY & BEYOND!

Each school in Indian River County selected 2-3 students to

meet the Blue Angels and watch a special performance.

Two of St. Paul's own were selected for this honor.

Wyatt Falardeau was chosen because of his Science Fair

Project, "Lift vs. Drag" was all about airplanes.

Christopher DuBois' love of anything that flies, especially the

space shuttle, led him to be selected from his school.

Congratulations!

FLAMEVINE LANE PROPERTY
Please continue to pray for all aspects of the planning - engineers, architects, parking, and city planning.
Please pray also for the funding of the renovations that we would be wise stewards of the resources the Lord has given to us.

To all our friends

who are supporting the starting of Crossroads Church in Charlottesville,

Greetings from Charlottesville! Out of our prayer together, Alison just got an "idea" that we think is from God: that we soon begin a "Summer Sundays in the Park."  It would be a short outdoor family friendly Sunday worship service around 5PM (still TBD) meeting in Belmont Park (three blocks from where we live).  Wide open to the Belmont neighborhood: right, smack dab, in the middle of it.  This one is quite important to us as we think it could be the pre-cursor to the coming autumn and the beginning of future indoor Sunday services (where and when TBD: as in "To Be Discovered").

Please pray that God would: 1. Grant us wisdom as we put the pieces together for this  2. Grant us the willing commitment of a handful of individuals to be reasonably regular to attend, and 3. Put "Wind" in our sails as we move forward: inspiring us & drawing neighbors as we invite them.

Gratefully His,

Dave (and Alison) Petty
