What's new at St. Rita School?
Our Mission: St. Rita School inspires students in grades Pre-kindergarten through eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing, and
faith-filled Catholic environment. We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers, who in today’s technology guided global community, live and share the love of Christ.

“Unity grows along the way, it never stands still.  Unity happens when we walk together.”-Pope Francis

A Note From Mrs. Tiezzi

A warm welcome is extended to all our new students, teachers, staff and families, as well as, all of you who are returning.  I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation. We have had a very busy and productive few weeks here at St. Rita.  Over the past few weeks we have had painters readying classrooms for our new teachers, Smartboards installed and office space built.  This past weekend our parents and faculty members worked together to move materials, furniture, and equipment over to our campus from St. Stephen’s.    Also, one of our graduates, Jack Hamling began his Eagle Scout project, refurbishing our stage this weekend.  All projects will be completed by the end of the month.

We welcome our newest faculty and staff members who will be joining us from St. Stephen School-Maria Testa (VP), Kim Lewis and Antoinette Testa (PreK-4), Kim DelVecchio (Gr. 3), Dolores Fortuna (Gr. 4), and Donna Soliwoda (Gr. 5), as well as, our new Pastor, Fr. Joe DiSciacca. We look forward to working together to build the kingdom of God here at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Rita School.

I hope you enjoy our new parent communication tool. Constant Contact is replacing News & Notes.  The next edition of Constant Contact will be sent out in August. Beginning in September it will be sent out weekly.

The St. Rita School faculty, staff and I look forward to partnering with you to further our mission of promoting academic excellence and spiritual development in the context of the teachings of the Catholic Church.  Together let us pray that through His Divine Mercy may God, who has begun the good work in us, carry it through to completion. Enjoy the remainder of your summer.

God Bless,

Mrs. Tiezzi

Meet  Father Joseph Disciacca
I grew up in Enfield, CT and am the second child of Teresa and Joseph DiSciacca.

I was educated in Catholic schools all along the way. I graduated from St. Thomas Seminary, Bloomfield, CT in 1967, St. Bonaventure University, Olean, NY in 1969, received a Master’s in Divinity in 1975 from Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, NY and a Master’s in Christian Spirituality in 1987 from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. I was ordained to the priesthood in 1973 by Archbishop John F. Whealon.

I was assigned to Ascension Parish, Hamden as a deacon, to St. Peter Parish, Torrington and St. John the Baptist, New Haven as Parochial Vicar and a Co-pastor at St. Paul, Kensington. In 1984 I was appointed Director of Spiritual Formation of the College Formation Program at St. Thomas Seminary, Bloomfield.

I served as Pastor at Sacred Heart Parish, Bloomfield, St. Laurent and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parishes, Meriden and St. Joseph Parish, Bristol.

I enjoy riding a road bike, taking pictures and traveling. My past-times include reading, eating Italian food and my downfall is dessert (any dessert but chocolate – sorry).

While it was something of a surprise that I was going to be re-assigned, I am pleased to be returning to the New Haven area and serving as Pastor of the newly created parish of Divine Mercy. It is my hope that we can journey together on the road walking with Jesus trusting in his Divine Mercy.
