Civil War 150th anniversary events, a thriving restaurant scene and lower gas prices have helped to fuel an increase in tourism locally and statewide.

Stafford saw the biggest local percentage increase in tourism revenue from 2013 to 2014. It got a 6 percent bump in state tax revenue and saw its local tax revenue rise 4.6 percent from 2013 to 2014.
