National Council of Negro Women, Inc.
Greetings!
Tomorrow the House Judiciary Committee will be marking a version of the Violence Against Women Act that leaves far too many women of color behind.  Send the message that VAWA reauthorization should benefit all women and not just a privileged few.  Any bill that rolls back advances for African American women and other women of color, is simply not acceptable.

If you live in or around DC, come out tomorrow at 9:45 AM to the Judiciary Library, located in room 2148 at the House Rayburn building for a brief Press Conference on the issue to be followed immediately by the mark-up of the bill at 10:15 (Additional overflow space available if-needed in room 2237).

If you live outside of the DC area, it's not too late to call your representative to tell him or her know that the H.R. 4970 leaves far too many behind. All women should be protected against domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking, and not just a select few.  We need your voices on this critically important issue!  Especially needed are the constituents of representatives from Florida, California, Illinois, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Call your representative today!
