Board of Directors - Hellos & Goodbyes
BCTV members elected board members to fill two empty seats. Lynn Barrett was re-elected to a third term, and Steve Cormier was elected for the first time. Steve is the Station Manager of WTSA in Brattleboro.
| Outgoing Board President Tim Wessel was given a "Lifetime Achievement Award" (and embarrassing slideshow) for his many contributions to BCTV since joining the Board in 2003. |
| Dora Bouboulis (right) was presented with a Board Appreciation Award when she stepped down from the Board in October 2013. |
Note from the E.D. - I regretfully overlooked Dora in this year's outgoing board appreciation ceremony. This was the presentation when she retired last October: Dora joined the BCTV board at a time of crisis in the fall of 2005. The next year, she also joined the Brattleboro Selectboard and by doing so, helped bring legitimacy to BCTV's reputation. While on the Selectboard, she openly talked about the democratic benefits that BCTV provides in terms of governmental transparency, and she never left the meeting without publicly thanking the BCTV volunteers in the room. She famously got us to cover the Planning Commission and DRB meetings by trying to do it herself. Dora attended conferences in order to bring "best practices for board members" back to BCTV. She saw board development as an area where we were weak and needed to focus our energies. She has been the organizational conscience for clear and thorough process, following nonprofit rules, and adhering to our bylaws and mission. Dora has stood by BCTV in some tough times and was willing to get her hands dirty - and covered with paint - all in the name of cleaning up BCTV. Thank you Dora for your staunch support and hard work. BCTV would not be the same without you. | Daryl Pillsbury's board term as Brattleboro appointee expired in June '14. Last year, he was awarded "Public Access Advocate of the Year" for organizing BCTV's major fundraising efforts over many years. |
| Jerry Goldberg stepped down from the board after the Live Auction in May '14 after serving for a year. |
No matter how long or short the term served, BCTV relies on this group of dedicated volunteers to maintain the overall health of the organization. It was wonderful to see so many past and present board members at the annual meeting. |
