Starting our Summer with Stars!

I am happy to share with you some very good news we received last week. Charity Navigator, the most respected independent charity watchdog organization that evaluates charitable organizations in the United States has awarded Child Foundation's sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency with their highest ranking, a four-star evaluation.

Michael Thatcher, the President and CEO of Charity Navigator in his June 1st letter said:

"Based on the most recent information available, we have issued a new rating for your organization. We are proud to announce Child Foundation has earned our second consecutive 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.

Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Child Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work. Only 28% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 2 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Child Foundation outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Child Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness."

I want to congratulate all of the Child Foundation staff and volunteers around the world for their dedication and hard work, and also thank all of our donors for their support and trust.

If you like to donate to our general fund, you can use our general donation page here.

1000 Food Basket for 1000 Families

Child Foundation's most popular program around this time of year has been " One Thousand Baskets for One Thousand Families". Last year, we were able to help more than one thousand families in different countries.

The program is usually initiated just before the start of the month of Ramadan, which is the traditional month of fasting, but also of genuine selflessness and display of charity to others.

The program's success and popularity mainly comes from its simple but powerful message of providing a month's worth of dietary allowance for 1,000 families around the world-- all at a time when food is most often scarce and prices too high.

As you know, Child Foundation is NOT a religious organization, nor does it ever get involved with projects like this based on religious or ideological grounds. What we are doing is providing the most basic of necessities (in this case, food) to families with children during a time of year when the need is probably highest and the pressure is simply too much to bear alone.

This year, we estimate the cost of these families' food packages at $50 for small and $90 for larger families.

Our Volunteers Around the World

Our volunteers are still busy around the globe. A group of volunteers under the supervision of our Mazar-e-Sharif office are collecting data about a new group of refugees who have escaped Taliban to Fariab. We have previously provided them with food and clothes.

Ruja is still in Greece spending her time with Syrian children and youth. Child Foundation has sponsored her stay for another six weeks. Ruja is teaching them language and art, and through art-therapy, she helps them to focus on the creative art-making process itself, so they can feel at ease from the suffering they have been through.

Reza, traveled to another part of the world, Cambodia. He organized a group and flew, drive, sailed and finally walked to delivered rice and books to areas that are known to be malnourished.

Our Food campaign is still going on. Please help us here to help others receive their necessities.

Hi, I'm Fatemeh!
I am 15 years old, and I am an eighth grade student in the city of Bam. I live with my mother and sister. My parents are divorced due to their unsolvable conflicts, and my father is remarried now. My mother had to give up her alimony and dowry to get our custody.

I and my sister have to commute from our village to the city for schooling since there is no school in our village.

Our commute cost is very high and our mother cannot afford it. Since we live in a small village, my mother cannot find a job; she only works for a month at a time in a date garden as a day laborer, which provides insignificant income. Our small house is not yet finished. It has no roof or insulation and leaks on the rainy days; the bathroom is also not yet completed.

I need your support to go to school in order to change our lives and help my family.

Please consider supporting this young student so that he may continue to attend school.

Tabriz School Project
A generous lady donated a large piece of land to be used for building a school for children in need in Tabriz.

Child Foundation has finished surveying the land and have blueprints ready.

Hi, I'm Soheil!
I am a 16 year old in the 9th grade in the city of Karaj. I lost my father when he fell from a significant height while working at a construction site. He didn't have any insurance so no compensation was made to us.

My mother is a housewife and has no income. She remarried a few years ago and now has another child who is four years old, but my stepfather doesn't support us much and hardly spends time with us because he has another wife.

We use to get a monthly allowance from the government, but since my older brother was excused from military services, it has been cut.
My mother is very worried about me because we don't have any income, and we are in great need of help.

My school GPA of 19.79 shows my seriousness to education, and I want to avoid having to quit school to help my family as is necessary, but without your help, our future looks pretty grim.
