And the Award Goes to...the City of Hillsboro's Police Chief Recruitment Video!

Remember all of the international media attention generated by the City of Hillsboro's Police Chief Recruitment Video last year? Well, as it turns out, the reporters from CNN, the BBC and the Huffington Post are not the only ones who noticed Hillsboro's creativity.

The Alliance for Innovation recently honored the City of Hillsboro with an Outstanding Achievement in Innovation Award at its Transforming Local Government 2014 Conference. The award was in recognition of the Police Chief Recruitment Video's innovative approach to attracting top talent. Even better, the video led to the hiring of Hillsboro Police Chief Lee Dobrowolski, who is now in his fourth month on the job.

Bulky Waste Disposal Coupons Available

The City of Hillsboro, in partnership with Metro, is helping you offset the cost of disposing of bulky waste items. Between now and May 31, the City will provide Hillsboro residents with a coupon for $29 to be used at the Hillsboro Landfill or the Tualatin Valley Waste Recovery Center. All fees in excess of the coupon must be paid at the time of service. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis until they expire or until the supply runs out.

These coupons are available only to Hillsboro residents and there is a limit of one coupon per Hillsboro household. Proof of residency will be required to receive a coupon, and residents will not be allowed to pick-up extra coupons for neighbors, family members or friends. Coupons may be picked up at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E Main St., in the 5th Floor reception area. For more information about the coupons, please call 503-681-5204, or click here for more details about the items that are accepted at the landfill.
