Leadership Florida Connect
October 2017 Report
Leadership Florida Connect Board Update
Adriana Ficano, Development Chair
Leadership Florida Connect Class VI
Chief of Staff & AVP of Corporate Relations
Broward College

Each month, we’ll chat with a different board member about their goals and initiatives. This year’s development chair, Adriana Ficano is dedicated to streamlining the donor solicitation process. What this means is Adriana is working to ensure that Leadership Florida Connect asks are all embedded into Leadership Florida Cornerstone asks. Integration of the fundraising will be completed by developing a regular communication system with Leadership Florida development chair and ultimately sun setting the Connect Development Chair role in 2018-19.

Goals:
  • We hope to increase Leadership Florida Connect dues paying membership overall by 20 percent and increase Leadership Florida Connect giving by current members by 20 percent.

Key Highlights:
  • Dues notices went out! Please remember to pay your dues and help us reach our goal of increasing Leadership Florida Connect dues-paying membership overall by 20 percent.
  • Donation solicitations are beginning in October.

Breaking Bread Tour
Happy to share a statement regarding the Breaking Bread tour from our President and CEO, Wendy Spencer.

“The Breaking Bread tour has given me an opportunity to thank many of our investors, get to know them better, and gain feedback in what is important to them as a champion of Leadership Florida. In these times of emails, texts and social media, the simple act of breaking bread with friends and having a face to face conversation is often overlooked as a great way to build relationships. I look forward to meeting more of the Leadership Florida family throughout the year!”

Catching Up With Leadership Florida Connect Class VIII
Leadership Florida Connect Class VIII met for the first time a couple of weeks ago in Orlando for its opening session. During the session class members witnessed phenomenal speakers; engaged in activities such as opening circle introductions and creative problems solving; and attended memory making events as they bonded during the Orlando Magic basketball game and tour. One major highlight was the presentation given by the Emergency Response and Community Impact Team of Orlando Health, as well as House Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith regarding the community response to the Pulse nightclub tragedy. This was a very timely discussion considering the heartbreaking recent events in Las Vegas.
