FREE SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH!
AJAX, Ontario – This summer Carea Community Health Centre is happy to offer 3 FREE programs for youth! All programs require pre-registration by calling 905-428-1212. Register today, space is limited!
Are you 13-19 years old and need volunteer hours? Want leadership experience and training? Then the Community Leadership Crew is for you! Two days of training followed by a community event will give your resume a boost.
You finish with a certificate AND earn community volunteer hours. Each participant will take part in a community volunteer opportunity to put their new skills to the test. The leadership training dates are August 8th and 10th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at our Ajax site (360 Bayly St., Unit 5).
If you are a young woman 13-19 years old, join us in Spa Spectacular. The ladies will participate in activities including home spa treatments, crafts and learning about various stress management and relaxation techniques. This workshop is a great way to meet new people! The program runs on August 3rd from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at our Ajax site (360 Bayly St., Unit 5)
For those hungry for culinary practice and experience, we have Dish Up Dinner for youth 13-19. This program consists of three free cooking sessions where participants indulge in hands-on involvement, allowing them to practice skills in the kitchen (it also features a Registered Dietitian). Each day brings new, healthy, and delicious recipes while learning how to make and plan meals at home. The program will run August 22nd, 23rd and 24th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at East Shore Community Centre (910 Liverpool Rd. S., Pickering).
Carea Community Health Centre is a non-profit charitable organization providing a variety of free, community programs and services including: health promotion and wellness programs; primary care, counselling and mental health programs; diabetes education; Hepatitis C screening, treatment support, education and outreach; geriatric assessment & intervention; young parent support, LGBT safe space and support, youth programs, Aboriginal programs and community development programs.
In line with the CHC Model of Health and Wellbeing, their expert team works with their clients to provide holistic care, support, and wraparound services that empower them to improve their health and wellness. Carea strives to be accessible to those in the community who face access barriers like culture, gender, geographic isolation, homelessness, language, physical disabilities, poverty and race.
