Neighboring Property Update

Greetings,

As many of you know, the church was approached by and entered into an agreement with the Myers Brothers in 2016, to sell them some of our undeveloped acreage to reduce the church's debt load. The church body voted to allow the sale of the land. It falls on the Board of Trustees committee to follow through with the vote of the congregation. The original development plans for the property fell through. The Myers Brothers, however, were still interested in the property. As the original dates of the agreement ended, they had asked for a 180-day extension, that the Trustees granted them. The 180-day extension is ended February and the Myers Brothers asked for another 180-day extension. After consulting with the Finance and Church Council committees, and receiving a recommendation from both to renew, the Trustees voted to renew for another 180 days. It was pointed out at these meetings that some of the congregation may not know that there is still interest in our property. We wanted to inform you that the land sale is still an ongoing process.

If you have comments or questions, please pick up an insert at Information Desk and return it to the Trustees' mail box in the office workroom and we will address them.

May God bless this church family.

Thank you,
Scott Hilbelink
Chair, Board of Trustees

These ushers will be instructed on their role and responsibilities. I am a Medic donor. I used to give units of blood, but for many years I have given platelets. I am certainly glad I can pass all the screening questions, so I can feel somewhat virtuous (humor intended).

It is especially important t that I give a small portion of life's substance during the season of Lent. This poem, The Blood Donation Prayer, explains why:

I Gave My Blood. Christ Gave His.

I gave a pint. He gave all.
The needle is small, sharp.
The nails were large, dull.
The table soft, relaxful.
The cross rough, painful.
The nurses kind, gentle.
The soldiers cruel, mean.
The crowd applauds my sacrifice.
"They that passed by reviled Him."
Mine is for A positive.
His for positively all.
Mine, at best, will prolong life, for a while.
His, without doubt, can save all, forever.

Friends of Faith
The Friends of  Faith Sunday School class will study the book of Psalms beginning March 4. This 13-week study explores intimidation, trouble, creation, praise, and much more. Please plan to join us in Music Room 210 across from the Worship Center. Each week is a stand-alone unit so join us as you are able. For more information email Renni Morris or call her at 865.386.8125.
Adopt-a-Mile

Last Saturday morning, some of our youth, organized by Mr. Clark Brekke, picked up trash along Union Road as part of the
Adopt-a-Mile program. Thanks to Ivy Enyenihi, Emily Rainwater, Josie Braun, Matthew and Ava Grace Waugh as well as Clark, Meg McCormick and Mark and Donna Waugh for all their help in working to beautify our community.
