Frequently Asked Questions
What time should I arrive at Millennium Park?
Registration and donation collection begins at 9:30am. Should you arrive earlier, please note that DSAWM staff and volunteers will be very busy setting up for the day and will be unable to assist you prior to 9:30am.

How long is the walk route?
The Step Up route is just shy of a mile and traverses Millennium Park's wide, paved walking trails.  There are no barriers, stairs or steep inclines. Participants make their way through the course at an easy pace, which gives families the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and conversation.

What should I wear?
Step Up for Down Syndrome is an outdoor event. Dress for the weather. Wear layers and comfortable shoes or boots. If you are wearing a costume or Team attire, make sure it is comfortable and weather appropriate.

What about bad weather?
Step Up for Down Syndrome will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather - thunderstorms, tornado warning, locust swarm - DSAWM will make a decision about cancellation Saturday morning by 8:30am. If the event is cancelled, notice will be posted on dsawm.org, our Facebook page, the fundraising website, and the DSAWM voicemail (616-956-3488). Email notifications will be sent to DSAWM members, registered walkers, and volunteers.

Do donors receive tax receipts?
For online donations, an email receipt will be sent immediately.

For cash and check donations, receipts will be distributed after the event to anyone who donates a total of $50.00 or more. Donors who contribute less than $50.00 and would like a receipt must contact DSAWM at (616) 956-3488 or [email protected].

Please Note: Cash/check donors will NOT receive a receipt - no matter the amount of his or her contribution - if a mailing address or email is not listed with the donation.
